    What are these?
For sale are breakout harnesses that allow you to tap factory switches in order to illuminate aftermarket switches without the need to splice into your factory wiring. This keeps your factory wiring nice and tidy and is fully reversible. This also allows you to control the dimming of your aftermarket switches with the factory dimmer. Each harness comes with a new green connector that replaces the connector you got with your CH4x4/Cali-Raised/AOB/MIC-Tuning Toyota-style switches. This makes things as "plug-and-play" as possible when it comes to lighting up your switches! Also for sale are daisy-chain expansion harnesses that allow you to illuminate as many switches as you'd like without needing to crimp them all together.
    64C09B3A528CCD4C2DD4C5F1BA916BFC.jpg

Here is an example of my personal switches being illuminated using one of my harnesses and several daisy chains:

    Ordering
There are multiple harnesses for sale. To determine which harness(es) you need, follow these steps:
    1. Figure out where you want to put your new switches. Note that each "base harness" comes with the ability to illuminate 1 switch without splicing. You have 3 options:
      1. Left of the steering wheel
      2. Overhead
      3. Below the head unit (A/T only for now)
    2. Determine how many switches you want to illuminate and purchase the appropriate number of daisy-chain expansion harnesses
      1. Each expansion harness adds the ability to illuminate 1 extra switch
      2. The expansion harnesses are infinitely expandable, so you may purchase as many as you need if you expand in the future
    3. Place your order over PM with me

Left of steering wheel $25 -- SOLD OUT
This harness plugs into the cargo light switch connector to illuminate switches left of your steering wheel. All 3rd Gen Tacomas have this switch connector regardless if you have a cargo light! That includes us Access Cab weirdos. The connector is just tucked behind the plastic.

The harness you're purchasing plugs right into the above circled area:

Below the head unit (A/T only) $20
This harness taps into the ECT PWR switch below your head unit. We utilize this connector to illuminate new switches below the head unit. To access the rear of the switch you will need to remove your head unit and pop it out. The whole process will only take a few minutes.

    Daisy chain expansion $15/ea
As you have seen, each base harness comes with a single green connector to plug into your new switch. If you are going to be illuminating multiple switches (there are no "hard limits" as far as how many you can illuminate) you will want to purchase some daisy chain harnesses. These expansion harnesses are infinitely expandable, are reversible, and modular. You can add and subtract these as your setup changes. Once you get your hands on one you will see that they are pretty intuitive to use. I have made the leads extra long so you can illuminate switches that are 2-3 switch spots away from each other. Here are 5 daisy chains hooked up to an overhead harness; this will illuminate 6 switches.

This is what each daisy chain looks like. You plug the green connector from your base harness into the male, and then each daisy chain has 2 females that go into your switches. To add another just plug the female (right side of the above image) into the male of the next daisy chain harness, so on and so forth until you have populated your switch panel.

Is this hooked up so you able to control the lighted switch with the dimmer function?

I assume I can tap this on the output side to avoid cutting OEM harness for a relay for Bed Lights. If this is the case, I’ll take the last one!

We’re looking at the end of next week for components to show and I can take orders around then.

Does anyone have a preference on the length of the pigtails? I’ve just been making them pretty short (6” or so) as I assume people’s wire runs aren’t going very far.

6" is perfect for me. I'll likely splice them directly into 4 or 5 JST connectors so I can add up to that number of illuminated switches. Did something similar with my overhead console....no fancy pass through connector like this though!

I am in for one as well. I have already spliced my wires, but I am going to be wiring up some switches for a friend's truck and the clean look and reversibility is exactly what he is looking for.

I think that should be more than enough wire. A couple piggyback connectors on the first switch makes it easy to daisy chain the rest of the near by switches. There are a couple different versions available.

Thanks for that link! These will come in handy when I piggyback the aux/cig port.

Put me down! To confirm this could be used for rock lights to illuminate when the rear white cargo light turns on right?

It can be done but I’d be tapping Pin 5 instead of the two tapped here in the offered harness purely for illumination. I can make you one with the tap off Pin 5 but the rest is up to you (@Boswell requested the same thing). Here’s the diagram:

@kmorgan3 so I'm a dummy when it comes to wiring. My switches have 4 wires. Besides the +/- wires, I have a wire to illuminate part of the switch when activated and another to illuminate the other part of the switch when the lights are turned on. I'm assuming the two pigtails are for the two different illuminations that are in the switch. Is this correct or am I missing something? Will I still have to tap into something else for the switch to light up properly when the lights are on or activated? Thanks

Can you link your switch for me? I’ve never heard of em being wired like that. Typically the LED that comes on when you press it is tied to the outboard pin and doesn’t require a separate illumination circuit.

The harness has a tap for illumination (+) and variable (-) (variable ground controls the dimmer).

That’s what I thought. So the 4 wires coming out of the back of your switches are:
    • illumination
    • Ground
    • Out (to accessory)
    • In (from power source)
If you were to use one of my harnesses you would connect the (+) from the harness to your illumination wire and the (-) from the harness to your ground wire. Your “out” on the switch would go to a relay or an accessory and your “in” would come from either a keyed or constant 12V source (most likely from the fuse box).
