I feel like there are so many more Toyota offroad shops down in SoCal than up here. I didn't have a good experience with 4x4 in Livermore, so I hesitate to go back there. And they do more Jeeps/domestics there than Yotas.

Shaffer’s asking $680 just for labor. Does that sound about right?

    All pro

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
Schaffers is expensive regardless of what you are being worked on. I'm noticing a trend of shops seeing how many people are getting into this hobby and charging astronomical prices for things that were so cheap to do a few years back.

Definitely WAYYY over-priced. Id keep calling around to different shops for other quotes. Stellar Built is in Sacramento, but their prices aren't too bad and they have become something of a 4x4 overland shop phenom within the last two years. They did my CMC for under $200 IIRC. Was a couple of years ago though...

680 is way to high. I just recently found someone who does this type of work. znofabrication in auburn. I don't have experience with them yet but if you go to instagram you will see some of their work. I am planning on going to them for the cab relocation.

that does not sound right. maybe they misquoted you. I have had a ton of work done by Milo and his prices are expensive. My buddy paid around 800 and had LCAs installed, cam tabs and shock towers installed at Schafer's.

You could honestly just grab a cut off wheel and cut it back for now then get it welded later. That is the cost of a cut off wheel or 2. I have a relocated mount now and it's completely open.
