What dash kit did you use for this install? Scosche and Crutchfield say there isn’t a single din dash kit available for 2010. But I see there is a 2005-2008.

Right I'm using the scosche dash kit from the scosche website, I believe that it did not say fits 2010, but there was no issue.

I am just about to pull the trigger on either the 7600 or the 8600 on my 2017. I am worried that the 8600 would be too big, but looks Ok in the images posted here. Anyone have any comments on the size? Any sort of interference with vents or anything else with the 8600?

Also, when fully installed, is the tilt on screen still adjustable? So that you can 1. Adjust for sunshine and glare, and 2. For accessing the cubby underneath?

Neither offer an "on the fly" vertical slide/height adjustment. the height is set when installing. apparently both offer a tilt feature, but for me feels really stiff so ive never bothered to force it enough. the brightness on both screens is amazing and I've never had to worry about glare.

I got mine installed and have been playing around with the settings. Have you found a good Config for jbl?
    cross fade, loudness, eq, etc?

Finished install and retuned amp. Wasn't bad. Reflashed maestro, new harness, etc.

Now to figure out all its quirks and update firmware....

Does this retain all the stuff that the factory head unit controls, like door locks and such?

    Weekend observations:

The screen is killer. I like the tablet look. I haven't had any glare issues with the sun, etc. The preset equalizer selections are pretty good and easy to manipulate.

Because I am using a DSP integrated amp (JL VX1000/5i with TuN), I have all of the lowpass/highpass settings shut off. There was no clipping all the way up to volume setting 40 (pre amplification) so I set all the gains at a volume setting of 35. I left the volume on the head unit at 35, because I control the master volume via the JL DRC-205 (has 2 controllers - 1 for sub, 1 for volume).

Right now my DSP is still set for the Kenwood. I'm waiting on my speaker pods to be completed (and maybe a different set of 6x9s) so I can retune everything at once. But for right now, totally not disappointed.

    Some more pictures:

    pioneer 3.jpg pioneer 4.jpg pioneer 5.jpg

Pro-tip: when installing the screen to the base unit, I used a little dab of hot glue on the screw to keep it attached to the screwdriver. Those little bastards fall everywhere.....

    Updating firmware quirk:

What a pain in the ass. My unit was running 1.30 and I needed to update to 1.31.

Try 1: Downloaded it onto a properly formatted thumb drive, etc, and kept getting USB error message. Frustration sets in

Try 2: Downloaded to phone via CarAVAssist app. Couldn't figure out for the life of me how to get it to the head unit - keep getting wifi errors etc. Finally pull head out of ass and log into the damn hot spot, and boom - all good and successful update.

I hope in the next firmware update they enable split screen for Android Auto. That would be pretty friggen boss.

I like the A Pillar speaker pods, is this a 3 way component system? What speakers are you using and where?

The drivers in the pods are CDT ES-02EX- 2" wideband coaxial their own passive crossover (they can be run active in a 3 way, but I am running them passive in an active 2 way if that makes sense). The door drivers are Morel Tempo Ultra 6x9s (but are getting changed to Audiofrog GS690s) all powered by a JL VX1000/5i. You can see more in this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/truck-audio-the-long-way.729148/

No rear fill and a JL 12TW3-D8 for sub duties.

just bought the 8600 and noticed on Crutchfield's site it says you need to splice 4 wires to retain the rear view camera. No other details. Can anyone comment on the install and retaining the rear view camera?
