Tnutz also carries the 2x2 bars you want tand will cut to whatever length you need, which should be 47”. Don’t forget to have them thread the ends for 1/4-20 bolts. Only caveat is shipping cost can exceed cost of a single bar, but may be bearable if you plan to order several bars

I don't know, but calling someone a "ratchet strap" would be a pretty funny insult.

"Hey! Get out of here you old snaggle tooth ratchet strap."

Anyone in Lake Forest, Ca area that would not mind me taking a look at their Prinsu? I want to understand how high it sits off the top of the cab and get some dim off it, but I figure people wouldn't appreciate a random dude measuring their stuff in a parking lot without them knowing. I have a flipac, so I need to be sure it's low enough to not interfere. If you are local and can spare 10 mins to meet up, please PM me. Thanks

Hey Guys - Just got back from White Rim in Utah. Had an amazing time and would recommend that everyone do it at least once.

So I ran into a little issue trying to remove my waterport from my prinsu last night so I can fit the truck into my garage. Looks like the square head on the carriage bolt is stripped which is causing the bolt to spin. I was able to get 1 but off but the other 3 are damn near impossible. My last resort is to just cut the bolts with a sawzall. Wanted to see if anyone has ran into this issue and has found solution. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Could try using a vice grip to hold the bolt (threaded part) while you use a wrench to get the nut off slowly :notsure:

Huge favour to ask - can anyone measure the Prinsu side rails on a double cab from end-to-end? I have a drawing with a 63.75" length - just need to confirm that.

EDIT: This is for a homemade version of the prinsu rack

    Thanks!

Mine is just over 64 depending on the angle of measurement from the back. Almost 64 1/4.

I have a question I haven’t been able to get answered. Before I take my truck to the body shop to get painted cuz I’m dramatic. Haha

I installed my Prinsu rack on my 2021 Tacoma Double Cab tonight and during the install I fully remove the tape covering the mounting inserts instead of poking holes. There’s some adhesive left on there but also some exposed metal where I scraped it off.

After I realized this left unpainted sections of the cab in the roof molding just open to moisture. I sealed all the inserts/spacers as suggested, but I’m worried the exposed metal is going to rust like a mother.

Do I need to worry? Should I take the rack off and get this thing painted or something? I’m worried it’s going to rust through to the inside of the cab or rust and cause a leak at the inserts. I’m so nervous. Need a solution if needed.

I feel like painting over the tape is such a terrible design choice and also, if this will rust why is anyone, even Prinsu, suggesting taking the tape off as an option?

If I recall correctly mine was painted underneath the adhesive. Many people scrape the adhesive off all together and don’t paint it. I’ve never heard of that being an issue.

    thanks.

perhaps it’s primered under it or something. Definitely not painted white like the rest of my truck. I was scraping it off pretty good too because the adhesive was really tough. I might’ve got down to bare metal, as you can see in the pic above.

I’m going to keep an eye on it and I guess if it starts rusting I’m going to have to pull the rack off and take it to get painted.

Did you get it off. I would remove the bar from the rack. If it spins freely it might just slide right out with a little encouragement. Or grind two of the sides of the bolt so you can get vice grips to hold tight enough so you can get the nut to spin off. Or just cut the bolt with a Dremel and go visit a hardware store.

If it was my truck, I’d put some primer and paint on that now. Rust is far easier to prevent than to remedy once it gets started.
