I bought my Tacoma back in September and ever since then I keep getting phone calls and a ton of Official looking snail mail from various "companies" about how my factory Toyota warranty is about to expire unless I "act now". I've also gotten calls about how my vehicle location service will expire in 14 days unless I call them back to re activate blah blah blah.

I wonder which party lost/sold my info; Dealer, Toyota or the DMV...

Do people actually fall for this stuff??? I mean I guess obviously some do, or the BS companies wouldn't be around.

Did anyone else run into this with their Toyota?
I dealt with a similar situation a while back with Dell when they had a huge data breach, those assholes were actually pretty slick and almost had me convinced; they had addresses, receipts, service tag info, legit looking phone numbers etc.... I had one of them on the phone for about an hour talking him in circles when he finally cussed me out in whatever language and told me he was going to bomb my house:rofl:

I literally get those calls from those damn warranty companies 2 or 3 times per day. I did read on another forum how to slow down the frequency, it said when they ask what the year and make is tell them you have a brand new Bugatti or Ferrari.

That would have been good to know 2 months ago before I got a new phone!! Lucky for me since I bought a new iphone AT&T now blocks/silences most of the calls or at least labels them as "possible spam". Every once in a while one does sneak through, but I generally don't answer my phone for numbers I don't have in my contacts. If it's something important I figure I'll either get a voicemail or they'll call my work phone.

I've been getting those for years! They've probably killed 100 trees just trying to get me to renew over the last 10 years lol

One time I got a call from some foreign-sounding woman (I forget why I was dumb enough to answer), and she said the warranty on my 2006 Toyota Camry was about to expire; She got it one third correct, and after a bit of bickering I just hung up on her...

I get the calls & mailings on a vehicle I sold 2 years ago ...

Depending on my mood I sometimes have a verbal volleyball session with the person on the phone.

Depending on your state, the property tax records are public information - perhaps that's how they pickup your info. Perhaps Colorado's vehicle registry records are accessible ...

I still get ''your warranty is about to expire'' mailings and phone messages 3 years after I sold My FJ. Get them on my Honda when I still have 100 K and 8 years left on the extended.

Surprised I don't get them for my 93' Miata.

If the mailing can't identify the year & model of the vehicle, then it's pretty definite it's a scam. But then, if they don't identify themselves and have the right vehicle, it's also a likely scam.

Way too many unstoppable scam mailings and, even worse, scam phone calls.

I got a notice in the mail that my Sirius xm was going to expire in my 2015 Chevy Silverado.
Problem is I don’t own one.

If it ain’t in my phone book, I don’t answer. 99% of my voicemails are some recording, starting halfway through telling me my warranty is about to end. The other 1% is some persistent Asian woman who goes on and on in an angry tone. I just don’t answer the phone at all anymore.
