I know it doesn’t help now, but when they do come available, stock up. We’ve had several major shortages over the last 15 years or so. It’s not hoarding if you use them. They will be back and at normal prices, but it may be summer before you actually see powder and primers on the shelf.

Powder I can get. Brass I can get (and actually have bunch of). It just them dang primers. SIGH... eventually. And, yes, I will stock up. Should've when I began to run low years ago, since I know they'll last a very long time w/o issues. Live & learn, huh? LOL

I personally don't think that the current primer/ammo shortage is being directed or caused by any one party or other. I feel this this was a case of a "perfect storm" ...with the pandemic and its fears plus the election & its fears (on both sides). These things all gelled into a HUGE upsurge in buying of guns & ammo that caught most by surprise.

I have a cousin who works for an outfit that supplies bullets to various manufacturers. Their factory is shipping out RECORD numbers right now and the ammo companies are still clamoring for more. It will simply take time for everything to reach a 'break-even' point. Legislation which could FUBAR things at some point down the road might or might not happen, but the gun & munition companies are doing what they can to supply; 24/7 production with fully (and in some cases over) staffed assembly lines. But when folks are asking for 7 when you can only supply 3... well, it's gonna take a while to catch up. I honestly don't think that ANYBODY could have predicted the massive surge in the purchasing of firearms and ammo.

There are several firearms I'd love to get right now, but almost everything that isn't crap is sold out ...and most retailers and online shops aren't allowing backorder options since the manufacturers apparently cannot make reasonable delivery guarantees during this unprecedented surge. Gunbroker and others are an option, but be prepared to be scalped by most, as it is most definitely a seller's market right now... and will be for the foreseeable future. Any way you look at it, it's just a white-hot mess right now - from every conceivable angle. :-(
