If you were closer to san diego I am possibly interested in selling mine I just dumped $200 replacing red button., push lock t-handle, cables, hinge locks and glass hardware... I put it up and it's damn near flawless no leaks but unfortunately I am also on fence lol....

Snugtop supersport black color matched carpeted inside all seals good and tight...

On my way to work in the morning, its a long drive so I take the prius...lol

I have seen alot of canopies and buddies with them
..the super sport fits like a glove and does t leak...I left 1 window not hinged and had a couple water spots on a side but between cab and canopy nothing....sides nothing....

I wasn't a canopy guy but the snugtop is top quality....good luck and keep us posted....

Have watched this video a few times before. Didn't know this is your truck. Love the camper. Eventually when my body doesn't want to get up off the ground sleeping anymore, I will go this route.

Two things I loved in this video:

    1. I got a chuckle when you said, "store my bathroom/shower bucket here" and I'm thinking to myself... you repurpose the same bucket?

    2. The shoutout to Timmah! with the sticker on the side of your fridge.

I bought my 98 in 99 and have always wanted a Bed Rug. I finally got one (from Jason) for my 04 short bed. It's really, really, really, nice.

If it was me I'd easily make that drive. These do not come up for sale very often, actually incredibly rare.

Hell I make that drive to just go skiing for the day.

Lol...yeah, same bucket. I double bag it when it’s in toilet mode and clean it pretty regularly. I like to have as many things have more than 1 use as possible. But yeah, same bucket lol

Since November 2019 I’ve used it for 54 nights of camping and driven it about 10,000 miles. I’ve learned some things.

The biggest is If I were to do it again I would probably build it on a 1st gen Tundra rather than a 1st gen Tacoma.

Even with the supercharger and Tundra brakes it kinda sucks to drive. It’s currently in the shop getting regeared from 4.10 to 4.88’s. That’ll help a bunch. After that it’s getting custom Alcans in the rear and then the rest of the suspension later. The current tired OME isn’t up to the task.

I don’t know if I would still have my truck if it weren’t for @Timmah! videos. They’ve been essential in me completing many tasks on the truck.

I have a 98 5-speed manual and really like that transmission.

Bought an 04 DC with the auto and hate it. What's your thoughts on the auto? I'm probably going to do the 5speed swap when this transmission finally dies.

Great topper. I have the same one.

And barefoot in the garage? I could never do that :)

    It’s proven reliable.
Other than that performance wise it kinda sucks.
I’ve been running stock 4.10 gears with 33’s and it’s never in the right gear and cruise control doesn’t really work. We’ll see how it does with the 4.88’s when I get it back. But that’s more to do with wrong gearing.
And manuals are just more fun. My car/daily driver is a manual.
On the other hand I’ve had a history over the past 10 years of braking stuff on my body that prevents me from driving a manual.
So having an auto as a back up daily driver has been really nice.

The finally dies part might take a while

I do love the "laziness" component to the auto but as you said, the performance of the auto is bad. Even bone stock with 32s (equivalent).

The transmission pump (presumably) is whining badly. So I assume something is going to grenade soon :)

    Fingers crossed.
My truck is the only auto I’ve ever owned. Sometimes I think I should swap it to a manual but that would be much much later.
Actually, I’d love to swap a diesel into it with a veggie oil burning system. I cook for a living and have access to lots and lots of used fryer oil.
Performance imports in Bend, OR does them with a 1KZ Turbo Diesel from Japan for $23k. Due to my free fryer oil it would actually pay for itself after about 5 years if I drive it enough. But smog in CA would make this near impossible.

I offered mine up for free and ended up getting $100 for it lol

It was for a double cab, i just wanted it gone as i was getting a new daily driver and wanted to have my truck setup as a spare truck.

    So there are opportunities.

At my old work (my business partner and I owned it) we'd at times work on stuff in flip flops if there wasn't the presence of danger. With a lift and air tools, a big fan blowing, not that bad.

Absolutely. I've broken my left foot I think I'm up to 3 times now playing hockey. As I'm finally getting up in the years at 35, I now have an automatic Taco and an e46 m3 with the flappy paddles. That said I plan to add a conventional manual z3 m coupe to the stable some day (year/decade).
