I am a 67 yo retired military guy who is browsing around for a late model Tacoma to tow a trailer which I havent purchased yet. My wife doesn't like a full sized truck. Our decision making process is very very slow, we have been at this for over 2 years. We had a Highlander 2014 with 215K Mike's and traded it for a 2019 model with 7K. It's the last year the real window glass lifts independently to the rear hatch. I am now thinking I should have Tacoma'ed instead of Highlander'ed. So I'm here checking out stuff about the Tacoma.

My initial inclination is a 6cylinder with a long bed (6ft), 2017-2019 model year.....and adding a transmission cooler and oil cooler after purchase to accommodate trailer pulling. That's about it.

We would size the trailer to the Tacoma. If we kept the Highlander we are @5K, which works and we have done that with the 2014. But a Tacoma is more versatile and practical when considering that I would retire my 1991 Dodge Dakota after the purchase of the Tacoma. That's the short answer
