There’s something to this. My ‘04 had been garage kept its whole life and the neck has dozens of cracks and looks like it will fall apart with the slightest provocation. I was considering this for $35

I ordered and installed that one very recently. It has the same problems as mentioned earlier in this thread that other people noted, so it is probably the same part. Filler neck is loose and the larger grommet is worthless (swap it with the one from your original tank).

Okay so this may be a dumb question but why do you guys do this? Is there a reason to move the location, like its more protected from the elements and cracks less or something?

Hoping the material doesn't suck like the usual sized one. That being said, I got an aftermarket usual sized one and it is holding up so far, but I've only had it for a year and a half.

the RTV I used on the filler neck joint near the actual reservoir isn't holding up that great, I might do something else with it but it's not really an issue unless I fill the container way up.

I sprayed the shit out of mine with flex seal and it hasn’t leaked a drop in 6 months. Hopefully it lasts a while but good to know there’s a cheaper replacement out there.

CORRECTION: This is the item I bought and installed.

I bought and installed the model shared by the OP. Some observations:
    • The plastic is definitely thicker and less flimsy than the original, especially on the neck piece.
    • The install was straightforward
    • I did not swap out anything from the original part, as I wanted to see how it performed/leaked as is. Plus, it's an easy thing to pull and work on :)
    • No leaks thus far and it sprays fine on my windshield. The original U-shaped hose beneath the reservoir had a leak that I fixed by moving it around a bit and spraying it with a bunch of Flex Seal
So far, so good. I'll try to remember to post a follow up review in a month or so after some miles.

Glad I found this. Mine has been broken for awhile now and I can't fill it without losing half the fluid. I could do some flex seal i guess lol

    Had a 2002 DC, now a 2004 DC.
Reading through this thread, is there a preferred aftermarket reservoir, or just take my chances with one of them? I do need the one with the low fluid sensor--I checked my truck for it. Thanks!
