My truck is a '02, not sure why I typed '04 in the title. I was chasing a cylinder misfire issue and decided to service the injectors when I noticed the o-rings appeared weak. I followed Timmy's youtube guide for the most part ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-lhZIWOkyU&t=1754s ) but thought i'd provide some comments. I would do an initial watch through and make notes of things he had forgot and added at the end of the video when getting access was more difficult. Also, I did not remove the throttle body. I would recommend having the new plenum gaskets, you can see in my pic that the old ones have parts peeling off. The old injectors were pretty dirty and some contamination was getting through the seals. I used my torque wrench on everything but the hard to reach fuel rail bolts, even Timmy's solution was not going to provide the correct torque ( if you alter the length of the torque wrench you need to use a formula to calculate the effective torque correction ) so I used what felt like 25 ft lbs. I also checked and found these aluminum washers (50 pack) that work fine on the fuel rail bolts:
    https://www.mcmaster.com/aluminum-sealing-washers/system-of-measurement~metric/
    part number 97725A104
I used a special needle nose vacuum attachment to suck all the sand/leaves/crap from the intake area. Also a good time to check your hoses for cracks.
I did use the Timmy recommended reconditioned injectors and they work fine. Also a good time to clean and dielectric grease your electrical connections.

I just did this a little while ago as well.

Apparently I didn’t do the best job at it.

I started getting a CEL P0171 ...lean condition bank 1.

This is frequently caused by a vacuum leak.
I bought a smoke machine from eBay for $64 and hooked it up to the brake booster hose.
The leak was coming out of the injector for cyl #5.
Looks like I’ll be taking that side apart and putting new seals in...again.

Do you think the injector bore was not clean? Also they said to turn the injector to ensure the o-ring didn't bind up. Good luck with your issue.

I think it’s not clean. It was super dirty and I vacuumed and swabbed it with a q tip thing.
    It turned ok.
I did have one on the driver side that when I turned it there was a lot of resistance. I removed the fuel rail again to find the o-ring cut from getting bound.

I have one of those Harbor Freight nitrile o-ring kits and it has a whole row that matched the injector o-ring size.

I just did this last weekend, and once things were back together, and I started it, there was a large fuel leak. :censored: So I've got some more o rings, and planning on replacing them this week.

Question though: The MotorWest injectors (Denso blue) come with a small packet of Super Lube. The Timmy videos detail dipping the injectors in gas before inserting them, but the inclusion of super lube seems to indicate that MotorWest suggests using that rather than the gas. Given how annoying it is to get down the to the fuel rails, I really don't want to do this wrong again. Thoughts on the super lube vs gas while installing the injectors?

I think the whole issue was from chinese fake ngk plugs that mimicked oem. I didn't mind changing the injectors since they were dirty and had some contamination seeping into the rubber gaskets. It has run fine since replacing the plugs.
