The Stance came out after I bought mine. I don't know the price difference - @GotExhaust might pitch in here - but assuming it isn't substantially more $$ than the regular, I'd have gone with that. There are times when I need access to the full bed that it would be nice to pup up the cover totally instead of having to remove it - especially if it's just a short trip. Can't go wrong with either, from my perspective, though.

I think if the price difference isn't much I'll go for the Stance. It'll be nice to have that flexibility just in case. Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

That’s why I developed my list in Evernote. I started with what I wanted. Looked at what I needed. Then divided that down into various assemblies and put them in priorities.

Wow! I'm impressed! I have never been that organized, I keep my eyes open for used or good new deals first, and snap them up as they become available. I have gotten some killer deals on used equipment, and also some pretty good prices for BF sales and the like.

I typically wasn't either, and I've definitely gone out of order and made spontaneous purchases as well. My TJ project had an overall plan, but not like I've done with my Tacoma. And I figured if I was going to mod the truck the way I envisioned it, I would need to organize that and prioritize purchases so I would not end up doing something that would make it harder to do another mod or outright prevent it. I started researching here on TW a while before I bought, and then started getting me ideas together. Trolling through the knowledge thread, the What Have You Done thread, and a metric shitton of build threads got me moving pretty well along. Having an organized plan let me make effective use of what used to be disposable income and kept me focused. If you look at my original posts in my build thread, you can see where I made some significant changes but the progress towards the same goal still remains. I've had a few small mods that I've removed/changed, but by having a plan I've been able to avoid a lot of costly mistakes. So far.
That would be my advise to new Taco owners: envision what you want to do, research here and then research more, use the search function on mods you're considering so you can benefit from other's experience, develop your plan, and then start making your purchases.

Get a good set of rock sliders instead of running boards. They can double as steps and also provide protection against other cars opening their door and *dinging* your door. And they'll provide protection for your rocker panels. You can also use the sliders to jack up your truck with a hi-lift jack.

I might have to rethink my running board decision but not sure my niece will be able to reach the rock sliders. She's under 5' tall so the running boards might be it. I do like the protection that the rock sliders afford though. I'll keep an open mind about the rock sliders for sure

Choose the 78 in option. The mounting feet for the sliders are not attached to the sliders. You can angle them however you want (I angled mine up a few degrees). These are what I ended up getting. Getting them welded on this week.

This is where 0* sliders will hit. It's not much of a reach; look at their positioning relative to truck door level rather than height off the ground, I have a lift so they sit higher because of that.
Sliders can still be used as steps but you will avoid the damage enhancement and loss of clearance from steps.
