4 cyl 3rd Gen can tow?

1200 mile round trip loaded down. Like beyond loaded down. Zero room left for anything anywhere. 13-14 mpg, for a 4 cylinder NA truck , they do decently.

2nd gen and v6, but tacoma anyways. feel like i need some beefier rear springs... yours looks like it handled it better even with a quad in the back. mine did have a bunch of tools in the bed and was sitting on a bump in the yard anyways.

How much weight was that in total?

 

Green atv in bed was 500 lbs. trailer weighs 800 pounds. Red atv in trailer weighs 600 pounds. Another 300 for me n wife, approx 400 pounds extra of camping gear n shit

 

2600lbs total? isnt the tow rating like 6000lbs?

 

Not on a 4cyl, the v6 is 6400#

That's not much weight, even for a 4 banger. You were probably a tiny bit over payload, but well within tow ratings. IIRC those are rated to pull 3500 lbs and most have 1200-1300 lbs payload. If your estimates are right you had 1300 lbs in the truck with about 160 lbs on the tongue. That is only 1300 lbs with the trailer. It probably wasn't fast, especially uphill, but I doubt you hurt the truck.
