Cropped up on FB. Are you on here? Hiatus says it's the first one they've built for a DCSB

For those unfamiliar, it's a hard sided pop up: https://www.hiatuscampers.com/

Skip to 30s to see how it works:

Looks like a few more pictures were posted up today. Also looks like the truck may be based out of NM going by the plate. Pretty neat little set up:

Not sure, but I've been following Hiatus since they were named something else and got a Trademark slapped on them... I'm interested in their product, but not quite sold on changing out from the Vagabond Drifter to something that will never fit in a parking garage.
Also, I wonder about their sectional mattress... I like how it is modular, but I have a hard time sleeping on cracks between foam sections and thin, dense foam...

I've been keeping an eye on them for some time as well, they were originally called Rogue Campers :) I don't know if I'd change out a camper if I already had one unless I *really* wanted the hard side aspect of it. As for height, I'd be curious to see for sure but I would be surprised if there was much height difference between them and many of the wedge campers on the market.

Regarding the sectional mattress... I hear ya. When I did the bed cushions in the teardrop trailer I made the main bed out of four cushions. There's a definite seam between the left and right sides, but the upper body and lower body halves were done with a 45* cut so that the cushions overlap where they meet. It was my first real big sewing project and it was a bit of a pain to sew and get it to come out right. The left/right seam is noticeable when you lay on it, the top/bottom seam isn't nearly as noticeable. I could have probably done two cushions, but I have a storage compartment under the bed and didn't want to have to take the entire bed apart to get to it.

I do like the hard sided aspect of the pop top and I think I would prefer it over a soft sided top. I've got a DCSB and when the whole family is along we don't have much leftover space in the bed of the truck, hence the teardrop. I do like the design that they use for the hard side, though it's not as innovative as they let on... there used to be a company in Europe building with the same hinge and composite panel design. I'm thinking of using the same design on my next trailer build. Low profile for towing, hard sided easy set up for camp.

Ah, that's what it was - Rogue.

For now with my minimal "living" out of the Vagabond, It's been great. I spend most of my time outdoors at camp and sleep in the truck. If that changes and I want more of a #vanlife experience, the Hiatus will be great. With a minimal interior build, there is still a lot of space inside without compromising off-road capability or getting too large for trails like a Sportsmobile/Sprinter/et al.

They'll be building mine now. I'm picking it up in May. 2019 DCLB TRD Off Road.

Can't wait! Supposedly they'll be done this month or next, but I can't make it across the country to pick it up till May. They very kindly offered to store it till then. It's a long way to WA from NC. We're planning to take two weeks to camp our way back.

Please jump on a scale right before and after picking it up! I'd love to know how much it weighs and what options you have.

Will do. I'll post some pics as well. We opted to build the inside out ourselves when we get back, so this will give you a good idea of the weight of the camper alone.

@2ayne has a completely different product (AluCab Canopy Camper). It's a wedge camper with a bed platform that tilts up, soft tent sides, the rear door is different as well as the overall construction. Similar in the sense that you have something semi-permanently attached to your truck that you can open up and sleep in.

Hiatus has hard composite sides (don't flap in the wind), aluminum 1" tubular construction with a steel (I think) sheet metal skin that pops up horizontal to the ground, providing an even height roof and larger sleeping area. Also, much larger and solid windows. And so on.

My work is right up the road in Redmond and have a set of scales if you want to come in before and after for weight measurements. Plus I'd love to check it out.

So nobody yet have his? I put the first payment last week... they will start the build in Jan 2023 ! Lol quite a wait time... but it suits my goal. I have a six pack camper that I’ll use in 2022 for a year trip, than I’ll sell it and come back with the hiatus, which will suits me more for week end trips from that on...

Wow. That's a lot longer lead time that we had. Ours was just under a year. We're picking ours up in May.

So....we're back from our three week trip out and back to the west coast. My wife and I drove the Land Cruiser out (four 10 hour days of cannonball run!) and picked up the Tacoma in Seattle. The kids flew out, and we all made our way back together. Epic trip, and I do love that Hiatus camper. We still need to build out the inside, but after a trip like this we know exactly how we want to do it. Enjoy some pics....

It was a little over a year from deposit to taking delivery. They told us the wait is almost two years now. Crazy. We're very glad to have it.

Great photos! Love the Moab BLM campsites. How long roughly is setup time of the Hiatus?

Setup is very quick. You pop the six latches, raise the roof, and latch then inside. 30 seconds, maybe?
