What I'm currently working on. When finished it will be a tapered piston ring ( I believe O-ring actually ). Going to make 2 of them. I ve made a couple before but who knows what happens to them. These tools won't needed for 2 years so I'm milking it for all it's worth lol.20201202_142046.jpg

I guess my description wasn't correct, but most probably understand anyway, it will be tapered to install a piston into a cylinder

It's actually stainless steel and started as 11" diameter billet! It's an odd Stainless grade too, I forgot. Not something I most often see like 304. Machines decent whatever it is.

Fooled me, with those chips and the finish it looks aluminum. Can't wait to see it when it's done :D

If I recall the last time I made these I looked at a pipe size chart but nothing really worked. You know to start with and save much time!

Here's a part I made a few month's ago. I actually made the first one out of steel but they didn't like it because the original was cast aluminum. So the steel one is a paper weight on my desk now. It's a tapered hub for a 30" diameter or so fan.20200617_102054.jpg

The digital read out is actually capable of doing hole patterns but I'll be darned if I could figure it out. I ran out of patience. Edit; your son could probably figure it out faster than I could...kids and computers these days!

I ended up biting the bullet and just buying new ones. Hated to but the old ones were pretty bad.
