going to 35's want to do it right the first time so instead of doing a chop might as well relocate the whole mount.

Some kits aren’t as structurally sound as you’d be lead to believe. I’ve done a few of these and there’s only a few that actually give more clearance in my opinion. Visually they look like they give more room but the mount stays in the same place so as long as you’re behind the firewall on your cut for the CMC you’re not gaining anything extra by relocating. Here’s an example of one I did.

I don’t like to recommend any “permanent” mod that isn’t absolutely necessary. Best advice I can give is to see where you rub after you install your chosen wheel/tire package and address each area accordingly. I’ve steered a few people away from CMRs because they weren’t necessary, but if you absolutely need one, I’d recommend the LilB kit as opposed to the alpine design kit. It’s gusseted far better than the alpine kit and prevents flex that could cause frame damage if you abuse your truck.

A few mods here and there and counting....
I got a used Lincoln welder and did my own cmc after getting ridiculous quotes. Plates(BAMF $17) and welder ($50) They are booger welds, but it works. Gonna have to do a more aggressive chop so a better welder is in the works. Quite a fun skill to learn.

I hear ya! The 4X4 shop in livermore won't even call me back after they did a poor job on aligning my truck. Back to my AAbco Auto for better service now.

Wouldn't recommend those guys. They forgot to tighten a bolt on my panhard. They work mostly Jeeps anyway.
