    Story time with Gritto. :)

From 1984 til 1993 I lived in Greenville, SC
Every Winter, a few times, the weather forecast would call for snow flurries.
You can guess what happened...every time.
Yeah, everybody gotta rush out and get that TP, milk and bread in the grocery store.
It was a running joke there, and even the weather forecasters would get into the act whenever flurries were in the forecast.

Most times there would be a few flakes, but basically....nothing.

A few times in that 10 years, there was actually an inch or two of snow.
Next morning, I would go to work in my rear drive F-150. (I had a contracting business).
What did I see in the ditches?
    4X4 vehicles.
Evidently the folks with 2 wheel drive were too chicken and would call in telling the boss they couldn't make it.
By afternoon, the snow had pretty much all melted.

Having spent the first 10 years of my life on a farm in the Laurel Highlands of PA (AKA Fucking Siberia), I was astounded.
It really is true, people in the South have no clue about driving on snowy /icy roads.
Mind you, the state and municipalities had (have?) no equipment down there for clearing snow.

Get a load of this though.
    One year there was a for-real snowfall...over 12 inches.
I forget now what year it was.
Interstate 85 was closed for the better part of a week.
The National Guard was called up. They were picking up people stuck in their cars.

The local TV station had a reporterette on a helicopter.
They landed here and there and interviewed people.

    There was this one guy...
He was gunning his truck forward, then backward, then forward...etc.
    Vroom vroom vroom.
"Whatcha doin'", asks Ms Reporterette innocently.
The Guy: "I'm stuck. If I can melt this stuff, I'll get me some traction."

    :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
