yes, either stick with sr5 or go for an off road premium. Probably end up being 5k more...

thinking of doing Katskin or some of these other options if I feel I need leather. or "synthetic" leather.

FWIW I am a proud new owner of a 2021 DC TRD OR MT with the premium package and I think the leather and other options in the premium package (moon roof, heated seats, premium audio, nav, auto climate control, etc) are a good value and the convenience of not having to have the leather installed separately make the factory leather option the way to go.

I agree. I like all the premium goodies and like the leather seats. They are not nearly as stiff and cold when you first get in during the winter as my GF’s Volvo seats (if I had left off the word “seats” that would’ve sounded very naughty...), and with the heater they warm up quickly.

Very easy to clean up. If you’re a pet owner, having cloth seats pretty much means half of your dog’s hair will end up in the web of the cloth over time.

I have Katzkins in my "15" Tacoma. Purchased through a vendor on TW and installed locally with seat heaters. I have dogs and the leather is much easier when cleaning up the dog hair. Tacoma Front Seat 2.jpg

I just don't get why you would want leather seats at all. Leather seats suck. They are super cold when its cold, they burn the shit out of your legs when its hot and you're wearing shorts. You slide around when driving spiritedly. There isn't a single thing leather does well other than bragging about how much money you wasted.

Cloth seats are better, more comfortable, and they age better than leather without a doubt. Leather looks like crap after a decade of use and its just the worst possible option for a truck or any other vehicle to be honest.

Couldn’t disagree more. I live in central Indiana so I deal with very hot weather and also very cold weather. I won’t buy a vehicle without leather. I will admit the factory Tacoma leather is pretty lame quality but I still prefer it over cloth.

Leather is definitely the best upholstery
If you have kids or pets. Wipe Dog hairs right up and spilled condiments. I’d bet
Most naysayers have never had leather.

I don’t like leather seats, but if I did I would have no problem paying what Toyota charges for them.

Number 1 reason for leather is it cleans so easy. I dont slide around in my leather seats at all and at times i treat my truck like a sports car, no joke. The bolsters keep in you place nicely. It handles better than a lowered E43. I miss my E rated ko2s at times...

I have 3 cars with leather interiors and 2 without. The ones with leather need to be re-upholstered, but the old honda with boring grey fabric still looks as good as it did when it was new. You can get a carpet/fabric steam cleaner pretty cheap these days. So spills aren't the concern they once were.

Why are you spilling condiments in your car anyway? Do you have an urgent need for mustard and relish while driving? Do you have packets of mayonnaise in the glove box? I don't even eat mayonnaise, so I just don't get it.

I just bought new over priced seat covers for one of my classic BMWs, this time I got custom made cloth seat covers in reproduction BMW fabric from the era. The most expensive seat options were always cloth. Leather still sucks, and you haven't burned your legs till you have burned them in Arizona sun.

My last car was a 2012 GL 550 with 100k
Miles The real leather upholstery was like new when I traded it in for the Tacoma.
That’s with kids and a dog. The same year Gl’s with leatherette mbtex are always cracked. I let my kids eat in the car. Lots of road trips so lots of catsup
