    Oh....yeah.....been there.

After a couple of paint color discussions. We came to an agreement. She can have any color she wants, she needs to buy it. I specified only 1 brand of paint that I will smear on. She can inspect the work for any paint "holidays", but she must inspect before I clean up. Once clean up is done, the job is finished.

This is where being color blind helps. I get to use that as an excuse for those types of decisions.

My wife and I came to an agreement early on in our marriage that if I say I don't like something, there is no follow up "why?" Sometimes you just simply don't like it and don't have a reason.

Using that tactic, we picked out all the finishes at our previous house in 10 minutes. The builder looked stunned.

Here is an interesting fact or 2 about differences between male and female.

Women can actually see more colors than men. The theory for the reason is rooted way back in early humans. Women typically gathered fruits, berries, grain and such. They developed a better color sense to enable selection of food that was ripe and ready to eat. Men on the other hand are more direction oriented because the theory suggests men were the hunters and needed to venture far from home. So the direction sense was to help them to come back from the hunt.

Be aware. I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other. Only saying there are differences.

My wife used to want my input for color scheme stuff. I walked over to my closet and opened it. 95% of things in there full under black or gray. I looked at her and asked "Are you sure you want me helping pick out colors?" That pretty much ended that. lol

Wrapped up this job this week. Client wanted to remove the top casing and rosettes on every window and door inside the house and replace with a crown style detail (it's not crown moulding). Settled on this after a few mock-ups. Basically wrapped the trim around a ripped down 1x5. I took careful measurements and premade & painted them all at home. Assembly rests/fits right where former casing was. Good $$ and easy gig.

    Edit - Oh...42 windows and 18 doors.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll ask here. I've got an upcoming job in early 2021 replacing stair risers and treads and a small amount of hardwood flooring in a condo. No garage to set up tools, etc. Setting up outside in Maine in January is not fun. All the space is finished. I think I'll be able to set up in a spare bedroom. Planning to lay down a drop cloth and will be connecting my rigid wet/dry vac to my miter and table saws. Going to throw on a HEPA filter. Any additional tips, ideas, steps I could take to reduce dust?

    A thing or two...
Had a new furnace installed today. The heat exchanger on the old one was rusted out. The new furnace is quieter than the old one.

    Install in progress.
    20201211_091704.jpg
Done. Installers had to bend up a custom sheet metal piece to go from the new furnace to the A/C air handler, and extend the exhaust ducting.
