After an alignment this morning I tried the 6112's on the interstate. I notice the difference and I like the new ride. The truck rides firmer. The 5100/887 ride was not bad on the highway. The 6112's feel more connected to the road and the truck drive's smoother and straighter with less wondering around from the small bumps and tire ruts.

I have the 6112s with a 650lb spring and Dakar HD leafs with the 5160s and love them. I run full steel skids, sliders, and an SSO slimline front bumper. Rides firmer, but not jarring. Definitely reduced the ridiculous bouncing of the stock TRD Offroad Bilsteins. Offroad they are great as well. Very controlled.

Any reason you did 5/5 with a 1/4" lean space instead of 5/6? Also what are your Hub to fender measurements?

    Thanks in advanced!

Good question, the 6112's are designed to run on the 4/5 or 5/6 thus eliminating the extra moving part.

Yeah man your truck looks great! I've been at 23" for about 30K now with minimal wear on my CVs so I think that's the sweet spot. I've got two friends lifting their DCLBs right now and I am recommending they both look at the 6112's. One plans on a low pro bumper, winch, sliders , the other plans on stock weight up front with sliders. I'm just trying to help guide them on what coil/settings they should go with. I think told the one who wants a bumper he 100% should go with the 650lbs coils. I'm just trying to figure out what coil/settings to recommend to my stock weight friend.

I am curious where @Tibetan Nomad is sitting with no weight up front other than the sliders.

I believe it’s stated in the instruction to stagger for ex: 4/5 or 5/6 but I just wanted to stay same so I won’t forget it (with this you gotta get the 1/4” spacer) and also i have seen people do the same here on TW. No issues for the last 2-3 years. I have increased and decreased the notch settings 3-4 times. Always kept both notch settings same. Been through default/stock 600 lb coils that came with it to 700lb KING coil
Just went outside to get this measurements from mid-hub to fender.

    Front driver: 23.5”
    Front passenger: almost 24”
    Rear driver 25.5”
    Rear passenger: almost 26”

Been on this setup (6112 5th notch + 650 Bilstein coils) for about 6 months now.

Nice! I was wondering about using a jack and the truck weight to compress the 650 pound springs. That spring seems pretty stiff when I was reinstalling the lower control arms. Did you use a spring compressor to install the 700 lb coils?

Would any of you know on the Bilstein 6112 shock body, the measured distance between each clip groove?

Haven't received mine yet but curiosity has me wondering since a 1/4" leveling spacer has being used
as an alternative to staggered clip positions.

Thank you for measuring! Are you pretty happy with the ride quality? It sounds like you've been through a good amount of variations to get to where you are now!

I have almost the same setup and they’re great on washboards. On 6/5 notches

600lb > 700lb > 650lb I love it! This setup works perfect for my need. The 700lb st 6th max notch was brutal & I think i was on that for a year or more! I hoped/wished it would get better in time but not a chance! Now I'm at 5th notch/650lb, clears 33 and anout perfecto 1” rake. I don’t plan to spend any more $ on the Taco as I’ve been seriously thinking of moving to Tundra (hopefully the next gen Twin Turbo V6 or V8!)

Update. Love the ride still. Ordered the ECGS bushing. No vibration but the front driver side differential has about 1/4" of play and makes a metal to metal sound when going over small bumps at low speeds. Not really sure I need to but maybe just want to...

I am glad you asked. I seen your post a few days ago and I know exactly what you are referring to. Yes they will eliminate a great deal of the pogo stick feeling. I didn't want to answer until I got a chance to road test these. Today I put a 250 mile round trip on these and they do make a big difference. Way more enjoyable on the beat up I 10 out here in the desert.

Received my Bilstein 6112 front coil overs set on 4th and 5th clip for the Access Cab. with top hats installed.

Installed them and upon lowering everything down they were at 23.75". Was worried they might have made a mistake and sent me 650lb springs. Took a pic of the numbers on the spring..

Seems Bilstein designed these coil overs better than I anticipated.

Some measurements I took of the assembled coil overs off the truck:
TRD O/R top hat to center of bottom bolt hole 21 5/8"
    TRD O/R with 1" spacer 22 5/8"
    Bilstein 6112 22 3/8"

On full droop, the TRD O/R with 1" spacer ~ stock upper control arm WILL make contact with the coil
On full droop, with the Bilstein 6112 (4th/5th clip Access Cab) ~ stock Upper control arm DOES not hit coil

I took the truck out and went over some higher 6-7" curbs (slowly < 5mph) to give them some exercise.

First thought.. I was extremely surprised how they minimized the impact to almost nothing. The curb impacts reminded me of rocky terrain that you encounter in the San Juans of CO.
Feel really good about the purchase right off the bat. Nothing at all like the impact of stock TRD O/R coil overs.

Didn't have enough time for further testing but after a dozen or so curb impacts,
I measured again at 22.75" (dropped 1" from install)

Rear 5160s should be here next week. Haven't decided what I will do with rear lift yet. I haul my dirt bikes in the back alot and may pick up a Leer 122 shell for ultra-light camping. Once I decide on the shell I'll focus on rear lift and method I'll use.

I'm running my old Konig (FN) Countersteers 16x8 zero offset (16.5 lbs) with Michelin LTX Defenders 265/75-16 for pavement pounding (56 lbs and 4lbs less than stock). Will be fitting 255 17s ATs with Konig (FN) Sixshooters when stock arrives. I'll powerdercoat the 16s eventually in a different color and have multiple wheels sets, each for different purposes.

I was all set to plop down $4500 for an adjustable full on FOX set up.. but I decided against it since I live in the upper midwest and winter salt is severe here. My 00 Taco was bought back by Toyota due to frame rail rust and my 06 faced the same problem. Every fastener underneath both the 00 and 06 was completely rusted to the point of "unremovable without a torch or a 3' breaker bar". Couldn't see an expensive Fox system getting tortured by salt.

Nice! I will let you know how the 5160's do with the "Wheeler Add a Leaf" shortly.
