Hey everyone! First post on the site as I just bought my first tacoma. Got an '05 Tacoma Access Cab SR5 with a cap! I am looking to upgrade parts for the truck as it is just above the base model.

Is there an upgraded radio that can fit the '05? I have a simple 1 CD changer and standard AM/FM radio.

Is there any difference interior wise between the TRD and SR5?

    Thanks!

    Welcome aboard!

I have a 2010 and you could fit anything you want mostly. I just got a single DIN CD player since I don't need Nav or camera. Not sure about the interior part of that.

    Where you from?

Thanks for the reply guys! The threads helped!

I am looking forward to doing minor upgrades to the truck, especially the seats. I just bought the tacoma and it had its frame, body mounts, shocks, tires and headgasket replaced at 159k! It is practically a new truck since it was garaged and never saw winter its whole life...until now.

I am looking forward to having this as I volunteer for three not-for-profits and each one has needed a truck for hauling and carrying equipment! but....I've also wanted a tacoma for a long while, especially in upstate New York, tons of fly fishing and camping opportunities here!

I wouldn't bother with an oem stereo, they're crap. Go aftermarket. Can get a nice single din with Bluetooth for a couple hundred bucks that will sound A LOT better. Better yet, get a double din with carplay/android auto and add a backup camera for a few hundred more. The stock speakers are also trash, just about any aftermarket speaker is a major upgrade.

Recommending going Crutchfield, and doing the upgrade yourself. That way you can avoid the risk some idiot installer will chop the factory wiring harness.

Second the vote for Crutchfield. Even if you don't know what you want, their customer service is top notch. Just get on with them and tell them what you're looking for.
