A nearby pawn shop has a Remington 700 synthetic stock 308 and a Browning Medallion synthetic stock 270. Both same condition, same price. What do you recommend?

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!

Probably the Remington.
308 is a good round and plenty of cheap ammo available, plus the Rem 700 can be tuned as far as you want to go.
Better starter platform than Browning.
That said, the Browning is probably a nicer rifle in stock form.
