    None... yet.
I hoped for a rage argument and was disappointed by the rational discourse...

No, no, no.....don't use Ajax and water.

50/50 mix of kerosene and diesel. Then drive it for 100 miles. If it hasn't blown up, drain, repeat. Do this 3 X and you should be ready for a new engine.

Typically there’s no need to touch the timing chain, as it should last the entire life of the engine. I’m on the original water pump also.

Probably not as confrontational because it's about the five thousandth oil thread. :D

That’s exactly why I expected drama. People who were just one more oil thread away from losing their shit.

When I was in High school, my friends older Brother used to flush his engine with diesel. First his MG, then later when he owned a Jag.

My 10 plus year old 09 has 92k plus miles.
Have used Mobile 1 0w~30 and most often a Fram 3600 oil filter every 5k.
I am sure I will have no problems with my 4.0 engine.

I honestly didn’t read all of this, Mobil 5w-30 and OEM filter every 5k, but chiming in to say:

who cares just change it regularly?

My dad had an MG. I don’t think he ever flushed the engine with diesel. But hey what do I know?

I'm sure it did wonders for the bearings on start up.

Thanks Yuma. Yeah, I saw that some others here go with the 3600. The manual calls for the 3614, which is a smaller filter. Does a larger filter do a better job cleaning and capturing engine gunk? For now, I guess I'll just stay with the 3614.

Thank you all for your input! So, do you all put in the recommended 5 1/2 quarts? When checking the oil after doing the oil change, the dip stick shows that it is full with just 5 quarts. But I may need to start it up and drive it a little to let the oil settle in. With that, I'll add the extra 1/2 quart.

Really? I hope you're right. With the 1st generation Tacomas, most everyone recommends doing that every 100K miles. Well, here's to hoping that the new generation of trucks don't require that. Thanks for your input!

Gastrol motor oil is all I will every pour into my Tacoma. First Tacoma I bought was a 1986 4 cyclinder and
it ran very sluggish due to the previous owner having it on 33's pulling a boat. I went through all the brands of
oil before I got to Gastrol. The truck started to purr like a kitten once I went to Gastrol. Every since then it's the
only I use and I only buy it in the bottles.
