    ok.....got it.

I'll take the risk of my error of knocking a hood prop out. Which is beside this discussion and not a hood prop failure.
Improper install is outside the scope of reasonable testing.

Will a single strut support the weight of the hood if the opposite strut fails?

@PiryongS To respond to you. No, Chevy did not provide me data. But on the other hand, Chevy is extremely rigorous in the qualification of their suppliers. They also spend years testing vehicles and components before they hit the market.
My information about the Chevy tailgate is based on my years of owning that particular vehicle and the knowledge of Chevy testing regime.

I have had aftermarket struts on lighter weight items fail in just a couple years. Fortunately, the item was not heavy and did not injure me when it fell. The weight of a hood, could cause me injury. I'm looking for reasonable reliability information.

If my questions are out of line, then I guess anyone can sell anything without question.......... and the buyer has no right to ask.

You added this part after I replied to the original post. Our struts are tested to >30,000 cycles by the manufacturer.

    Thank you.

    See that wasn't so hard.

Yes, one strut will hold up the hood. Also struts do not fail suddenly, they lose pressure gradually.

Cheaper struts fail earlier than premium struts.

You can ask all the questions you want, I am happy to engage in a discussion that's meaningful and respectful.

You're welcome. The strut data is indeed easy to provide, I didn't realize that's what you were looking for.

I thought you were asking about the reliability of the entire system, with the mounts and rivets - that is much harder to quantify as it depends on the installation.

    I have been respectful.

The questions have meaning and relate to the reliability of the system.

Your answers will help build confidence in the reliability of your product.

Yes, I did add. That was to give an example of a reliable system. I'm reasonably sure the tailgate on a '02 Chevy is heavier than the hood of a Tacoma.

Thank you for engaging in this discussion.

<edit> You can not test for every improper use or install of a system. You can only test a system that has been installed correctly.
As an engineer, I know, a system can not be made ID10T proof. Because the ID10T will seek help.

Any time . I have full confidence on our products, and you will note that our satisfaction guarantee as well as warranty are the best you will find anywhere. We would not be offering those if we were selling inferior products.

You should have lead with the reason for your aversion to aftermarket struts. I believe you are looking for assurances based on your bad experience, and there is nothing wrong with that.

TBF, I doubt anyone here is claiming that the buyer has no right to ask. Let's not get into "rigorous testing" discussion, since there is plenty of evidence (based on recall rates) that GM (not just GM, of course)has had it's fair share of recalls even through their testing regime.

Got my struts today, freaking amazing since I ordered them yesterday. Already installed and these struts feel very robust. Thanks Leon.

You're welcome Juan! It helps that you're local, and that USPS came through with one day shipping. Nice work with the quick installation .

Well it didn’t have to be hard but your questions were more like challenges and taunts than honest questions, you’re the one who made it hard. Not with hard questions, but with a hard ass attitude. Then you gave answers about your Chevy that had far less substance than the vendors replies, that was rather amusing. :D
The vendor was polite, I wouldn’t have been. Feel free to ask me any questions you have. ;)

Dang it was looking like friday was early!

Modding a truck may not be the correct life decision or path to pursue for some people.

insert appropriate "Honda ridgeline" joke here.

Buy the way i did buy a set AND i assume that they will fail before i get rid of the truck (had my dodge intrepid for 18 years) hope to get more then that out of this one.:lalala:

I installed another brand on a customer/friends taco along with a magnuson supercharger , then my Spiker kit for my truck showed up a few days later . Much stouter struts and I went about 4 inches above stock , LOVE THEM !!! And Leon offers the best service I've experienced in decades ! Thanks again !!!
