My new 2013 Ural had no gas gauge at all. I don't think that they had one until maybe last year?

If zero really meant zero goofballs would run it dry and screw up the pump.

My '07 KTM 990 has no fuel gauge but rather has a special trip odometer which begins counting the distance from the time when the 'Low Fuel' light comes-on. I find it insulting. It's as if the bike is saying, "Hey, I told you 27.6 Miles ago that we needed gas!" Must be a Euro thing LOL!

    Most definitely.

Although, pumps can run dry for short periods of time. Usually, enough to prime to the max spec and then some. Automotive pumps are not that fragile.

That is pretty crazy. As if the reserve light wasn't good enough.

I know, right? I still wish it had a gauge though. A small difference in my riding style can really effect the range on that bike. More so then on my other two bikes.

But the thing weighs 300lb. You can wear it like a backpack if you have to. Hahahaha!

I was pleasantly surprised the other day with my LRA long range tank... It also stays fairly accurate and I made it to a gas station despite me being an idiot and driving a ways past 0. I was prepared to walk...

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
It used to be that my test of fuel gauge accuracy was to carry a full gas can with me and drive until it ran out.
This way I had some idea of how far past "E" the gauge had to go before I was REALLY in trouble.
Now I just fill up when the gauge is at "E" and subtract the gallons in the fill-up from the tank capacity. Knowing my MPG (actually calculated, not from the system) would give me a guesstimate of how many miles I had left to REALLY empty.

Don't I wish! My 990 is the Adventure model, so it's heavy (I think around 500 LBS). I also own a Honda Grom. I always joke that with the Grom when I come to a large hill I get-off and carry it up!

LOL! Yeah I've never (Although I wouldn't let it get down that far) seen that either.. (New, so..)
But my 95' Dodge van .. A couple Caravans .. My wife's near-new Forester ... They'll get the 'ding!' and the little light of a gas pump show up on the dash .. Which is the 'You better get gas NOW pal!' warning..
I would assume that newer rigs probably all have that? I guess if you don't let it get low enough, who knows? ;)

I do too ... I have the MTE (And overall MPG) on the touchscreen set up as to 'since forever' with any new info (Is it called the 'A' screen? The little one on the dash?) that resets itself with every new fill up.

    LOL!
30 years ago I used to plow snow with a gigantic 2-ton 71' Dodge dump truck for the town I worked for. Had side tanks with no gauges. Kept a wooden stick in the cab that you had to stick in the tank to find out how much gas was left. When the bottom of the stick got 'wet' on about the bottom 2", you knew it was time to fill up. Worst thing was ... If you went past where you knew you should have ... You could switch over to the other tank, but that meant crawling under the truck to manually turn a valve.. Usually in the worst weather possible and the whole bottom of the truck caked in snow/ice ..
    Ahhhh .... such fond memories!
