I'm looking at a used 2006 with 150K miles on it. It was in a minor fender bender and I'm wondering how difficult it would be to repair the damage. It looks like the right side of the rear bumper was pushed down. Does this look like an easy job of either installing a new bumper or bending the old one back into shape, or does this look like there's frame damage?

Question 2: This is a crew cab with a long bed. Seller is asking $10,500. Is it worth it if it's otherwise in great shape?

The 2005 - 2006 trucks with the 4.0 make nervous.
They have been known to have head gasket issues.
Some of the later model 06’ were reported to have the upgraded gaskets.
The problem is, there is no definitive date as to when the change took place.

I’d probably want to have it pressure tested before I spent $10,500.

I can’t help with the bumper. I’d probably just leave it alone.
I don’t get to worried about looks.

Have it inspected by a competent mechanic.

Well now you've got me nervous. This one was ordered in May of 06. Can anyone else tell me whether or not the 06 V6 Tacomas are a concern?

Not only the engines on these rigs but depending on where it was owned the frames are noted for rust issues.

Its 14 years old, my guess the head gasket would have gone bad by now... if that would be an issue. The frame is under warranty, is it not for rust?

i've taken my bumper off to pound out some dents on it after getting hit and run and it's only like 4 bolts if it's just the sheet metal bumper, takes like 20 minutes to pull it off.

I've had the the head gasket replaced on my 2007 so it's always a hit or miss with that issue. As far as the rest of the truck 10k isn't a bad deal for a SR5 Prerunner where I'm from. Also if this truck is a true SR5 model it seems weird that it has a flat black rear bumper. That package comes with a chrome bumper. From the picture you posted there should be absolutely no frame damage. Maybe some bedside damage though.

I would really take into consideration the overall condition of the truck. An after market
bumper brand new you might get for $250. bolt on and be done. From the junk yard
$100 to $150. Maybe even the chrome version.
Then how is the interior ? Cloth ? Truck looks a bit plain jane to me .
Does it have any extra's to prop up a $10.5K asking price.
Even any Expense records like for tires, brakes, A/C or engine service , etc.

Did the SR5 come with a blank rear window, thought they all came with sliders? And isn't the V6 badge on the wrong side? Maybe it was different in 2006, but I'd be doing my due diligence.

Get the VIN. Go to the local Toyota dealer. Talk to the Service Manager. Have him run the VIN for any Toyota service.

This will show any recall work and any dealer work. Head gasket repair generally isn't a DIY job. Frame replace will also surface.

from the windows and the black bumper i'd guess its not a SR5 and they just put the badge on it.

The emblems on a that tailgate are all jacked up. Here is where the emblems are supposed to be. Personally, I feel 10.5K is way too much for a beat up, misrepresented prerunner.

I replaced my stock bumper with another stock one. Its pretty easy. The bumper itself does not weigh much. Hardest part for me was getting all of the plastic bits off.

I agree, $10.5 K for this truck not in pristine condition with 14 years and 150 clock =
