I finally got around to making an actual set of shutters, after a few practice rounds. I'll admit it was quite frustrating until I got my technique down. Lots of mistakes mostly around the router table.

    Next up sanding and paint!

I haven't had any issues other than I haven't used it enough. The software is very similar to 3D printer. If you haven't used one before there is a huge learning curve to 3D design but once you get the hang of it the limit is your imagination or someone else's depending on what you find or buy on the internet.

    Or a combo of both.

Still early in the learning curve. One issue was some chatter in the cut but was able to clear that up with some belt and bearing adjustments.
Software.. carbide create is a little basic in its CADD functions but I came from a job were I had a $20,000 in drawing software on my computer. Carbide create works you just need to work a little more creatively. I have AutoCAD lite for design. $400/year but I use it for lots of other things as well.
Carbide motion is good. I would like to be able to drill holes.
For importing images I use Inkscape. Free. Way down on the learning curve here but have read lots of positive reviews.

I bought a house a few months ago and it had a 16’x9’ shed in the back yard. I’ve decided to turn it into a little wood shop. The previous owner left a bunch crap and scrap wood in it. Today I built a 30inch by 8’ work bench on the north wall with the scrap wood. Up next will be a miter saw station on the 16’ east wall. Then I want to build a rolling cart for the table saw. Eventually I going to throw in a small dust collection system and plumb in compressed air.
Any tips and ideas for maximizing space and use.

These things are great if you nail the execution and have two tools that are reasonably weighted similar. It is a severe PITA if you don't get both parts right. Or you need to use both tools back and forth.

Well for some reason when I don't post in here for a while I stop getting notifications and then I forget to post stuff that I'm working on...

Anyways, I've been busy studying for my FE exam and my dad just finished making white oak flooring for the workshop and has begun laying it down so I've been helping with that some. Everything's all moved around in the shop and no room to really work on stuff so no big projects going on. I'll post pictures of the flooring later, it's gonna look too nice to even walk on.

Good luck on the FE. I’m currently waiting for my PE results.
