If only I could figure a way to attach some lights to my factory tonneau.
    Anyone have suggestions?

    Command strips hooks?

Assuming you have the factory tri fold? (How is that, btw?)

I had one on my 2016. I really liked it, especially for the price.

Thats not a bad idea at all. I'll have to see if I have a few around the house.

I really like the factory tri-fold. It's easy to fold up and removes with one bolt if needed. I mainly run it in the fall/winter to keep leaves and snow out of the bed.
My only complaint is when we did a section of the TWAT a ton of dust was sucked in past the seals.
There is a good thread on here about removing some shims to get a better seal.
I'll get to that one of these days when the weather is nice-ish.

Been thinking about one on and off. There are times when I want one, and times when I don't

Thats why you want one that is easy to put on or take off. The softopper is also nice for that. You can either have it setup, folded down or off completely in a couple minutes.

For sure! I had a Gator folding tonneau that I could completely remove with no tools. This came in handy a number of times. I was eyeballing soft toppers before I decided to go back to a 4runner.

    Thought about those too.... :anonymous:

Cost is of course, always a factor.

Oh there will be some mods all right
That's what I have on my Nissan frontier is the Gator EFX. I'm pretty happy with it. It was one of the most affordable folding hard tonneau covers and time will tell but so far it's great.

You may be forgetting the most important factor...how cool covers look.

If our trucks can't look cool, what's the point of mods anyway?

I will say that this is one of the most badass tonneau covers I've seen!

The Diamond Back covers are sweet, and very functional. If I wasn't happy with the factory trip-fold I would probably go with that option.

Especially since I could mount a bed rack on top for hauling the kayak.

I had one and it was pretty sweet but the fixed section in the middle was a pain on more than one occasion. Kinda wish it was just one big panel and you could lift it from either end
