I promised I wouldn’t add a lift

Need help my fellow Taco enthusiasts.

My last 2017 taco, I did a bilstein 5100 lift with open country at’s 285/70/17’s

It drove like crap at 65+ mph, it was a harsh ride and when I had my wheels turned while going over bumps, the front wheels rubbed pretty bad.

in my younger years I wouldn’t have given two shits and would have just been stoked by the looks of it.

I ended up selling that truck for multiple reasons and almost 2 years later I ended up buying another taco off-road.

I promised myself I wouldn’t touch it. However after being under gunned numerous times when off-roading with my brothers lifted Rubicon and missing that sweet sexy stance, I find myself wanting to get sliders and a lift

is there a 100% no BS lift / tire size that will not rub and drive like a dream?

    thanks for help!!

I put a 3" OME lift (886 w/ HD Dakar leaf pack, reason being- my bumpers from Relentless should be here sometime Jan.) with 255/85/r16 on about 10k miles ago and I am very happy with it. Ahh shit EDIT: Forgot to mention I put LR UCA on to accommodate the lift. So not the most painless route to go.

Just a thought. I'm getting up there in years too and happen to like the soft OR suspension. All I did was cmc, 285's and minor plastic trimming and called it good. All this and I keep all the OEM CV, drive line angles without being a money pit.

So my wife has always liked lifted trucks so I lifted hers and run 255/85/16 because she also likes the cool fake bead lock TRD wheels. I made a few mistakes; buying the heavy load OME springs, and buying another brand new set of those TRD wheels for my truck. I did need to trim a little plastic on hers to prevent rubbing. It rides like a lumber truck and after 25k miles those BFG MT howl like crazy..she still likes it. Hind sight I could have used her 16s on my truck and bought something aftermarket for hers in a 17" wheel that offers a much better selection of tires.

Do like I did and buy a more off road ready rig to hang with your brother. Keep both.20201106_121359.jpg

As far as sliders go I went with RCI, believe they're vendor here and might be good for discounts I'm not sure. I purchased a fuel tank skid for my Sport from same company. I think they were having a labor day sale..some sale they had going. Anyhow well constructed pieces.

I just went Fox 2.0’s front and rear on 265/75/16’s. Still getting great MPG, no rubbing or trimming required, and the ride is great. Subtle 2-2.5inch ish lift so no new UCA’s needed either.
