I was able to get a little bit of high temp grease up there. I haven’t heard the sound since I did it on Friday, but the noise has always been intermittent. I will let you know if it comes back. You?

I'm glad to hear this is just a minor and noisy annoyance. Mine has been chirping for a long time too, only when its in neutral and the clutch pedal isn't pressed in. The truck has 150k or so on it now, with the original clutch, etc. I don't beat on it much, but when I do gun it it will break traction and spin the tires so I'm assuming the clutch is GTG.

I'm sick of shifting all the time but its still nice being able to put it in the power range and MOVE when you want to.

No, have not tried yet. Other than 1st attempt at work real quick
I got mine back from the trans guy. He says TOB
Even though it was just replaced.
I would think ours would be the same as far as design.
I I'm pretty darn patient, guess I have to have more and give it another try with some longer tools as you suggested.

You cannot easily add a pilot bearing to the transmission, but even if you could, it doesn't need one and adding one would likely not have any appreciable effect. It simply doesn't need one, by design.

The throw out bearing tube/quill on the RC-series transmission used in the 2016-onwards Tacoma with the 3.5L is a separate part. The design of the transmission once again split the bellhousing from the front case and uses a separate bearing retainer similar to how Toyota/Aisin transmissions have done it in the past.

It's interesting because as far as I can tell, the RA60 and RA61 seem to be relatively alone in their throw out bearing issues compared to other Aisin/Toyota transmissions with a similar design like the J160, RA62, RA63, and TL70 which all use integrated bellhousing/front cases with aluminum quills.

The biggest issue affecting the throwout bearing on the RA60/61 seems to be the pressure plate height, which seems to mostly be an issue with LuK's pressure plates, which Toyota stopped using after 2008 or so in the Tacoma. The 2016-on Tacoma uses Aisin clutches exclusively in the 2TR and 2GR equipped models with both the R156F and RC62F.

Clutchmasters kit seems to be having some teething/potentially ongoing adjustment/leaking issues.

I don't follow all these threads that carefully, but is there much in the way of clutch complaints/issues with people who have, let's say 2011-2015 Tacoma 4.0L's? That's when the trucks started coming with what I would call the "correct" components from the factory, pedal/master cylinder excluded of course.

But why? The input shaft doesn't interact with the throwout bearing or pressure plate in any way. The throwout bearing doesn't touch the input shaft, it only touches the release hub and the pressure plate, and neither of those touch the input shaft either.

You could have the clutch disc spinning all over the place in there with no support whatsoever and the pressure plate and release bearing would still be sitting concentric.

What do you expect a pilot bearing would do if you added it?
