I had only driven 6 cyl cars before my Tacoma, so going up hills even with a minor load was pretty jarring at first. Plus the 2020s basically default to eco mode so it fights pretty hard to keep the RPM down. After awhile though I felt like it handled better with some weight in the bed

I live at 5200' and flog my 3.5 v6 at 3-4k for dayyysss. If I need to get on it and pass at 80mph, I just run it at redline. I think it downshifts to 2nd or some nonsense. You paid for the whole tach, use it. Modern cars won't blow up their engines running high revs.

Haha now thats the answer I want to see, Im in the exact same boat. I agree, I let it handle itself at 4k plus on passes. Passing on one way roads gets sketchy with mine

Yes @Joe O. your Tacoma can handle it. Can you?
My 4 cylinder and 6x12 made the 2,300 mile trek from Vegas to Pittsburgh like this...

I do not. Probably would have been better if I did, but at the time when I moved I did not have the money for one. Like I said, I experienced no issues then or since. I took it easy and took my time.
