All the kids in our school system got iPad from kindergarten on up. They're on a hybrid schedule and just do worksheets and online assignments on their home days. But for what we pay in taxes they'd better all be getting iPads/ laptops etc.. plus gotta keep that #1 school district in the state rating.

They're nice but we make our daughter write stuff out with pencil and paper and upload the picture of her work. She doesn't need to learn how to peck letters on an iPad, she needs to learn to write (she's in 1st grade).

I have those on my wife's Jeep and have been pleased with them. They're one of the few tires that have the 3 snowflake rating too. I figured since more often than not we wouldn't be taking the Jeep out in the active snow/ice, so dedicated snow tires don't make sense. That being said, I never thought KO2s were particularly good in the snow, which is why I have dedicated snows.

The concern is more power outages for students and staff and the ability to give them something to do. There's also a belief amongst staff that the kids need the mental break of a snow day. As of right now my wife is teaching, which would be nearly impossible for her to do if I wasn't going to already be home since daycare has closed.

I realized earlier today every single day that I've been on vacation in 2020 the kids have been home from daycare for one reason or another. Either they were sick, there was a COVID scare, or daycare was closed for whatever reason. Every. Single. Day. I had last Friday off as a normal Friday off (9/80) and had a pile of appointments to go to and I couldn't because I was stuck quarantining home with the kids. I had gotten booted from work Sunday, tested Monday and didn't get results until Saturday.

Reading all your snowblower stories make me feel better about maintenance on mine. I did a wheels-off run through cleaning mine up, lubing everything, checking the gearbox oil, etc. I ended up with an awful gasoline smell out of it that I'm still chasing down. I've always had issues with overfilling the tank because they have a weird fuel level indicator, and I'm also reading that the fuel cap has issues with leaking, so I'm hoping that once I get out and empty out the tank that the smell will go. I swore I could smell the fuel smell in the house occasionally, which I wasn't a huge fan of.

This re the outages, but a part of me believes too they should get a day to just go outside FFS.

IDK about your machine but my tank seems to rise up pretty fast, then drop to about half in 10 seconds regardless of how slowly I add fuel. I'm using an old style can so I wonder if it's a safety thing in the new machines.

    1. Is the fuel line from the tank cracked? They can wear out and get brittle..
    2. Did you step in gas and it's on your shoe?
    3. I went 10 years before my first oil change on my snowblower and have never opened the gear box or adjusted anything else...It's a 16 year old Craftsman 19" w a Tecumseh electric start (broken starter) still starts by the 3rd pull...knock wood!
I'm on my 3rd chute and 3rd set of shear pins...
This is my model (borrowed from interwebs)
Oh, and 1/2 of the auger is totally bent because one year I caught the tarp from the wood pile and didn't notice and it bent the augur before the pins broke...I sort of got it back in position but you can tell one side does better work than the other in 12" snow

    1. That's on the list to give a onceover at some point this year, once I drop the fuel level down a bit. I'm not ruling out a carb either. This year I had stored it empty so I could flip it into maintenance mode, but I always run stabilizer in it for the last few tanks of the season. It started on the first pull and seems to be running decent.
    2. This has been going on for awhile.
    3. Mine's a 2016 and I've yet to miss a year of oil / plug / lubing. I pulled the wheels off this year to lube everything. I was shocked how much friction material was underneath it. I'm weird about fluid changes, though.

Mine has always had some kind of a "drip" or something but I think it's just melting snow picking up grime...

I've got the same or very similar tecumseh engine on my snapper 28" commercial chassis. My electric start is broken too, but it also still starts just fine withing 2-3 pulls.

Thats what i got my parents for a snow blower about 7 years ago for $300 used. First start of the year takes 2 or 3 pulls, the rest after burning off the first tank take 1 or 2 to start

Hard to say what we got so far, looks like 6-8" ish. Wind's been blowing so some spots are bare, some spots have over 2'! Hopefully the wind keeps up, I didn't have to do much to clear off the truck and I'd like to keep it that way!

Snow just started here about 30 minutes ago. We'll see what we actually end up with; it's coming down pretty hard already.

I'm about to go out and do a first pass with the snowblower. From the looks we have 10-12 inches so far

We're probably at 10-12" here too. Doesn't seem windy at all. Need to go do a first pass soon but I'm drinking coffee and being lazy.

Id say we had 10-12" when I left the apartment at 7 to go to work, it was still coming down pretty good til I got to 101 on 93 and then it stopped snowing, i think that was just a pocket in the storm though

According to the weather we're we'll within the 12-18" band now. So I guess I should really get off my ass and do a first pass.
