Some filthy rats made a home inside my outdoor shed where I keep some small hand tools and other stuff, and I don't know how to go about cleaning after them. Every source online says not to vacuum or sweep, so what the hell am I supposed to do? They also say the best way to sanitize is a bleach/water solution, and I sprayed some of the stuff with that, but don't want to be dousing my tools on bleach. Suggestions?

I just cleaned up the nests and moved on then they were in the living area I think between the traps and chemical warfare I tossed out about 20 dead bodies

Just get everything outside. Clear the shed. Wear a good approved respirator, gloves, goggles and long sleeves, pants, shoes........shake into garbage bags and wipe with dry cloth. (seal bag and toss when done) If the suckers and pissed and shitted on your tools and boxes wash with very hot water and simple green then douse with isopropyl alcohol. Allow to dry.

    Then relube as required.

I use the shop vac. :anonymous: But at least I toss the filter after I'm done. And also wear a respirator.

Cleaning tools is dependent on the tools. My shovels and rakes, I pressure wash, Lawnmower and chainsaw, simple green the affected areas.

This was near Bellingham WA, awhile back. Yes field and deer mice mainly carry it.

There’s all kinds of nasty in critter poo...

Histoplasmosis is a type of lung infection. It is caused by inhaling Histoplasmacapsulatum fungal spores. These spores are found in soil and in the droppings of bats and birds. This fungus mainly grows in the central, southeastern, and mid-Atlantic states.
