    Hey y’all!

i just got my lift done today on my 2020 Toyota Tacoma SR5. I went with a 3 inch lift and 285/75/16 BFG KO2... for some reason they are rubbing really bad and won’t clear. Any advice?!??!

The advice I received from the guy putting the tires on was to go with an offset (stray away from stock wheels) which I’m fine with... my question is, after all that, will i still have to trim, cut, etc. ? I’m really trying to find the best solution to this issue without having to trim/cut.

I’m sure the 3rd gen guys will chime in soon. Imo I’d go with a 16x8 0 offset. Put Ucas on and get a really good alignment with 3+ degrees of caster and you still may need to trim but hopefully keep it to a minimum. If you wheel a lot definitely will need some trimming. Good luck!!

    A. The reason they’re rubbing is you didn’t search the umpteen bazillion posts titled “what’s the biggest tire I can run without rubbing” on here.
    B. Had you done so, you would know the best solution without having to trim and cut would have been 265/75R16’s or even 255/85R16’s.

Now that you’ve been properly chastised, you might be able to get away with a different offset wheel, wheel spacers, different UCA’s or any combination there in.
I don’t know how you achieved a 3” lift, (spacers vs shocks/springs) but at that height, you might also need to look into a diff and carrier bearing drop.

Best of luck to you, the search bar is your friend!

hey! Thank you so much! I just got the tires put in with rims that have a -6 offset and i cleared... was really freaking out about this but it’s clearing completely. I also did go with a 16x8!

I actually just got it done with 16x8 and a -6 offset and i cleared so thanks... but i definitely refuse to go with 255’s... seems pointless to put so much money into my build and not have tires I like, thank you for your help though.

Just a heads up, from my research skinnier tires are actually better for on road driving generally than wider tires. we aren't drag or street racing, so contact patch isn't quite so important. whereas with inclement weather (rain, snow) skinnier tires will cut through it better, whereas wider tires will be more likely to hydroplane/float across. Skinnier tires also provide a slight decrease in rolling resistance, which equals a slight increase in MPG. they're also probably marginally lighter.

wider tires for these trucks are really only better for looks and soft sand where you'd rather be floating across the top than cutting through it. If you aren't offroading much (which, correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't seem you will be since you went with a 33" tire and no fender trimming or cab mount chop), skinnier tires would probably be the best route.

that being said, I went 285 on mine also. but I did fender trimming, cab mount chop and lower offset wheels. 285/75/16 milestar patagonias on 16x8+0 methods.
