First I’d like to say that I am new to Tacoma and truck ownership. I have a 1994 FZJ80 but now going to start modifying my Tacoma. I’ve got a 2019 TRD Offroad and I am looking at upgrading the suspension. I am looking for more control on and offroad with a more compliant ride. I live in a place with pretty poor road quality and I enjoy desert running, and riding fire and ranch roads. I am running 265/75R16 BFG KO2s on the stock suspension and I really like the tires and I’ll likely keep the size because I believe they are a good balance for on and offroad use and I’ve only seen about .5 mpg drop overall.

I really am not looking to lift the truck significantly and I have been looking at just upgrading to a 2.5 coilover in the front and a 2.5 in the rear. With this setup I’d lift the front about an inch and keep the rear stock. I am not married to this plan but I’d like to hear opinions from the community on this set up based upon my desires or recommendations. Suspension budget is $5000. Thanks in advance for the help!

You're going to get a lot of answers, and I really like the versatility of the Dobinson's kit here. @Crikeymike GL!

I heard @AccuTune Offroad will custom valve the shocks (for free) to ensure you have the best ride possible on the street & off-road :hattip:

Off the shelf shocks may be ok, but if you are battling rough terrain on the daily, a quality set of shocks may be a good investment for the long run. We have full stage kits, or just replacement shocks if you want to keep lift height to a minimum. Fox and King are both good shocks, just depends on your budget.

TRD Pro suspension with Headstrong 3 Leaf AAL, DV8 OR front slimline bumper & Engine Skid Plate, RCI OR high clearance bumper, CaliRaised Trail Edition Sliders, Spidertrax 1.25" Wheel Spacers, 265/75 16 GY Duratracs, wrapped the OEM wheels, OR Roof Rack, Extang Exceed Hard top Tri fold tonneau.
I found a used TRD Pro Fox suspension system for $550. it is almost exactly what you described you are looking for. Lots of used options out there if you are patient, and you can save some of your budget for other mods.
