I don't believe they still do it as a lot of what I have seen as of late has had a yellow lens (there may be a few products that still roll this way), but for a time Rigid did in fact have amber LEDs in some of their product offerings.

Those are SAE white. The selective yellow (not amber) SAEs have a yellow lens. Rigid had amber pods like their radiance that used amber (not yellow) emitters, but that was not offered in SAE, and the internals of the pods are not compatible to swap an SAE optic onto an amber emitter pod.

I think Rigid let some people swap to a yellow lens at time of selective yellow product launch, but I wouldn’t expect to be able to do so now. The lenses are not available separately and their design is not intended to be user serviceable like Diode Dynamics and Baja.

Thanks for input. So any predictions on what would happen if I were to wire these up? My only way to test may be to get to his place and plug it in I guess. He claims they've never been installed but with offer up you can never trust what they say.

    what is your goal?

To tinker with product? If so, sounds like a good deal, go for it.

or to get fog lights on your truck? If so, DD sport selective yellow and you’re all set for life.

Or you just really want this specific look for your fog lights and don’t want to tinker and really want a good deal on them? Then roll the dice?

Im not sure if the seller will let you hook them up and give them back. But of course the expectation is that they work. You may be limited to product packaging to determine if they are white or amber. Or ask him to connect and prove color with a photo before you drive? A little bit of wire to the car battery should be sufficient to get a test photo.

if they were installed, it wasn’t for very long. And I wouldn’t think that adjusts pricing. People don’t save the plastic baggie on products they install unless they are super duper careful with stuff, in any case it’s good for you as the buyer. The only question is what color the light is, is this guy mistaken or does have have some special off menu combo you can’t even get anymore.

They’d turn on with white light, maybe then you could leverage that in price negotiations. It comes with a wiring harness you can connect to the battery to test, or you can get a Deutsch to H11 adapter to plug them into your fogs, and just unplug a fog and plug the light in there to test before purchase.

Fogs are mounted low in a position that usually sees a lot of road debris, leading to pitting on the finishes if run on a vehicle for an extended time. You could also check how clean the mounting hardware is. They look pretty clean in the photos. If you can’t tell they’ve been run I’d call it good enough. I believe Rigid specs those LEDs at 50,000hrs service life.

If he has an 18V battery (from a cordless drill) and two pieces of wire with alligator clips on the ends, wouldn’t that work to power them up long enough to test them? That’s what I’ve used in the past to test LED lights before installing them.

That would work. You could do the same with the truck battery.

Do you have a picture of how it broke? I have use .032” safety wire (like bailing wire but thinner and made of stainless steel) in the past on headlights to fix the bulb holder, granted that was on cars that weren’t worth installing a new headlight on. But it would get you by until you are able to get new headlights or find suitable used used OEM ones.

I attached pictures of both the broken housing and the other one that isn't. I tried to rig the broken one to work without the spring clip, but it just didn't work, and resulted in the bulb not seating properly and blinding drivers at night. I bit the bullet and bought brand new housings, and I'm glad I did because they look and perform flawlessly.

So what you can do is drill a couple 1/16” holes where I have circled as close to the the base of the corner as you can without getting filings in the housing (I use a vacuum while drilling and place paper towels in the bulb socket and around the outer portion while drilling very slowly). Then you can use some safety wire (you can get a spool at Harbor Freight even) and run it through those holes, install the bulb and then run the safety wire down to the clip for the spring assembly and gently twist the wire into a pigtail until it is tight but not tight enough that you snap off the lower clip portion.

This is the best I can draw on my iPad. Lol

I appreciate the advise and good idea, but I've already bought new OEM assemblies and installed them. Maybe I'll do what you're saying and keep the old ones as backups.

Ahh, I missed that part that you already have new ones. My bad. BUT now you have a great pair to do a retrofit on if you want to mess around with that!!!

Who is this directed to? iJDMTOY is an IP Thief, and these were blatant copies of Bajas SAE fogs. I turned them into Baja so that Baja could take legal action against them. It looks like iJDMTOY has since updated the face of their copied product to look slightly different than Baja's to avoid legal consequence. But you'll note they never updated the design with the SAE fix like Baja did. These will not be SAE compliant lights, you can tell that the iJDMTOY doesn't even understand what an SAE compliant pattern is, as they are called "SAE Flood".

Most Amazon listings just use buzz words with no concept of what they mean. That’s why my phone cases are sometimes listed as “military grade”. A mil spec phone case would be way more expensive and way less effective

iPhone 8 Case,iPhone 7 Case,Marrkey 360 Full Body Protective Cover Heavy Duty Shockproof [Tough Armour] Aluminum Alloy Metal Case with Silicone Built-in Screen Protector for iPhone 7/8 - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8M7XC5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_PNG3Fb0QT8EDB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

PS if anyone is tired of breaking glass, those things will fix the issue. They’ll add a ton of bulk, weight, and tend to reduce signal strength so if you’re in the boonies you’re unlike to find signal. But for bike rides and hiking, the phone will survive I can guarantee that. They’re all the same so the 40$ one just has a brand stamped that the 20$ one doesn’t. Beastly fuckers. I cut the rubber out the back of one and slapped one of those card sleeves on the back. Still protected the phone and worked as a wallet case too.

anyway I’m off on a tangent here. Yes I was asking if those were the same ones you bought and didn’t even bother testing. They’re PNP and fit, and 1/3 the price of the SS3s. People are going to levitate to those, I have a feeling.

I’m sold after this post. Once my bulbs burn out I’ll just get these. I really do with there was a good quality white and amber switchback for the low beams (unlikely to happen without LED but it’s just kind of an ideal world want) and fogs (actual potential!)

maybe by the time mine burn there will be a decent switchback led SAE fog.

No I did not purchase those. They are not SAE compliant and not a legitimate fog light, which rules them out of this thread. Regardless, I will not support IP thieves selling cheap China knock-offs so there will not be any such products featured in my lighting threads. Those lights have been available for 7.5 months and yet to gain in any notable popularity.

If you are referring to the fogs that were way back from the original post that did not fit a Tacoma and the test results were never posted, they were an awful low performing light. Pretty sure I gave them away (because I couldn't bring myself to sell something so bad) and suggested they be used for some kind of fun project like a go-cart and not as replacement fogs.
