True, I guess a few more days wouldn't hurt after months and months... and months

The thing is, we know that these things are sitting at grabhandle HQ with our names on them, so the wait for the shipping email seems worse than all the other ‘waits’. I for sure won’t see mine before Christmas but it would be nice to know that it’s ‘in the mail’. A quick update on f#c^book wouldn't hurt either.

Received my handle today via FedEx (I don't trust USPS during holiday season). Great upgrade, really solid feeling when installed, but not perfect.

I got duplicates of the bottom cover. Using matte black gaffer tape to cover the top hole for now, and I have an e-mail in to KTJO about getting the correct part.

The bolts are kind of a pain in the ass to get started. Have to line them up perfectly, be careful not to cross-thread.
The covers aren't...great. They don't really click in or anything. I stuck a small ball of butyl putty on the nubs and that seems to be doing the job of keep it in.
EDIT: Ok, this was my fault, not KTJO. I bent the lower tab flat by accident and it was getting jammed flat under the cover. Once I addressed this, the cover stays on fine.

All in all, for a clone of an OEM part by some factory in China, not bad.

I'm most curious to see how the color matches up in different lighting. The oem black seems to be blueish in bright sun.

Maybe it was a blessing we didn't get some of the first ones shipped even though it's been about a year. The Chinese are noted for over-promise and under-deliver. Wonder if she even checked any of the incoming parts?

Yeah, I was wondering about the QA. If she just got the boxes and shipped or opened each one for inspection before shipping. These things happen though and doesn’t look like a big issue. Just wondering about replacement parts lead time

She actually has to put the individual parts into the boxes. They were shipped to her in bulk. What makes no sense is that she waited till they were here to confirm delivery addresses. Couple that with packaging everything into the boxes and a full time job, no wonder it is taking some time.

Maybe in another box there are duplicates for the top cover. Hope it doesn't show up at my door, I don’t relish having to deal with that business any more than I have to.

All of a sudden I’m in no hurry to take delivery. I can wait until this glitch gets worked out. :santa2:

I'm curious about this as well. Getting matching texture pattern / depth / and gloss can be challenging to mimic OEM.
I manage and mature injection molding tooling as a profession and it is challenging just to coordinate application of the same texture from 2 different texture houses.
Texture application on a tool is an absolute art form.

On a side note, that blueish tint may be residue from the plastic off-gasing. When plastic is formed (meaning melted and injected into a tool), it will excrete VOC'S (volatile organic compounds) after molding.
Thermal cycle, heating and cooling + UV exposure helps these gases escape. Over time the off-gasing will taper off, but this process contributes to that thick film on the windshield when you try and clean a new vehicle.

Mine seems more like a purple hue in the right lighting. Doesn’t seem to have gone away in 2 yrs

Just a quick question, since you did a recent order- did you get an email to confirm address?

Is it worth checking to see if the passenger side covers have a better secure fit? Is that even a part sold separately or part of a “kit”.

How’s the texture compare? That’s my big question/concern
