    Are the third gen clutch pedal start switches all mechanical ,
    Or sensor / magnetic proximity switches ?

    They should be mechanical, a plunger switch at the top of the travel and one at the bottom of the travel, the send signal for clutch in (allows cruise control disallows starting) and clutch out (allows starting) unless you have an TRD Off-Road with the clutch start cancel bypass switch which allows starting in gear with the clutch in (top switch) engaged.

    These switches are normally closed spring loaded and rest on rubber/plastic silencer pads that can break, if they do the plunger gos through the mounting hole and can cause a false state condition.
