    I’m new, Hi all,

Anyone try that ABS send-in “repair kit” on eBay for $150? Need a new pump and actuator and am having trouble locating anything around Portland.

I’ve had the ABS light on intermittently since I bought my 2000 a few months ago with occasional overreacting ABS engagement at low speeds. I’ve seen others on here experiencing the same thing. I’m tempted to just let it be since the mechanic wants $2000 to replace it. Is that the going rate to replace these? It seems pretty steep considering the unit is located right up top. Is it more involved than a few bolts and a brake bleed?

    Stock right now.
From my experience when i had my 1st gens, the ABS was garbage when functioning "normally". Like you said, it would engage at lower speeds and almost caused me to rear end people in warm, dry conditions. What i did was pull both ABS fuses, then pulled the ABS bulb in the instrument cluster. To me, 1st gens drive better without it.

I would verify you don't have an abs sensor dropping out at low speeds before you condemn the module, it's very uncommon for abs modules to fail. Sensors can drop out at low speeds and cause unwanted ABS activation, this can be caused by a bad/damaged sensor, broken wire/corrosion in a connector, rust/dirt under the sensor lifting it away from the tone wheel, damaged tone wheel, debris on the sensor, or bad wheel bearing.
