believe it was for pre 2018 3rd generations

I don't wrench for money anymore; those days are gone. My plan was to hold a "ModDay" at my house this year but with Corona that got cancelled. So whenever we get past this pandemic it will get planned and we could do a bunch of trucks if people buy cans and bring beers etc.

They charged for a loaner for warranty work?

I could select a different case possibly. I'll keep that in mind.
So i just want to use it for gaming. I want 4k max settings on any game to run smoothly and to *hopefully* only need to swap out the gpu in a few years for it to still be competitive. I have a feeling its overkill for my needs, but am a big fan of buy once, cry once where it does everything you'd expect it to do.

I'm pretty much the same way. My advice is that #2 is generally the best choice as the top end will cost you a lot of money for just slightly more performance.

The RTX 3090 is the end-all option right now but the RTX 3080 is a far better value at half the price. AMD has some good cards as well with their new top card looking to land between the two Nvidia cards but their ray tracing is less developed and you're likely to see larger performance hits on that side if you want that bucket of awesome.

The most important factor right now bar none is that the board and CPU you choose support PCIE 4.0... that will be the standard going forward so as long as you can support that, you're likely to be good for the next few generations of GPUs. 4K gaming is GPU-bound and likely to remain that way for a while so a solid 8/12 core processor now will easily last you.

Here's a quick list of what I would toss together here and now with a bit of room for a case, RGB (if that's your thing), and odds and ends like fan upgrades. If you can assemble yourself it's a lot cheaper than buying a pre-made but if not, you might need to step down a little on a few things to get under your price if buying from a builder.

I'm not sure i'm comfortable with building one myself. I'm by no means tech savy.

Rite rite. Remembered seeing a post, then coming across this in person. That said, the store had a whole pallet of ‘em.

I do find it interesting the sign said, limit 5.

Have you thought about dropping into Micro Center to speak with them to get some ideas? They will have everything you need and the experience with building them to give you advice. If your interested in doing online research, ANANDTECH.com and Tomshardware.com are good good sites for component reviews. Fortunately you have a sizable budget...

I have this mentally, but it doesn't work too well with technology, especially not for pc gaming.

The market doesn't have a setup that can offer you reliable 4k @60fps. On top of that there is a MAJOR shortage of top-end GPUs right now.

I agree with everyone else though that you should build over buy at the price point you have. You will literally save thousands. If it's your first time watch some YouTube videos (I'm a big fan of linus tech tips, amazing sponsor segways not withstanding) to get an idea of how it works. Honestly, it like putting a Lego kit together except for the parts are more expensive and the hardest part being the research to find out if everything is compatible.

This can give you a guide as to where to start and help with selecting individual parts.https://pcpartpicker.com/

Yep but I think it was more like a small fee charged to cover cleaning/sanitizing the vehicle.

^^ THIS unless there is a retailer style build and you swap out components like we do with our trucks.

Needed massive compute sitting below my desk for work so they got me an HP z620 with dual 24core etc. All I needed to add was ram which was cheaper. Obviously not a gaming machine and I never had the opportunity to stay late to try to flight simming on it back in the day: https://zworkstations.com/site/assets/files/7051/hp-z620-datasheet.pdf
Dont forget to get the correct monitors also for these high performance gaming setups! I see friends with very nicely built machines and then running Acer monitors or some other crap.

Nah... You gonna have to clean your own underside =) We need to come up with a DIY car bidet build out of pvc pipes one day with flexible end nozzles that can be rotated to get rid of the dingleberries hiding around the frames.

I started designing one pricing up the pvc, nozzles, water pump, holding tank, etc. Figured I could set it out, turn it on and slowly drive over it to get all the crap off the underside. Realized it was going to cost more than I wanted to spend so dropped it.

Can someone propose to the moderators that we get our own state mentioned in the Region forums. It's a pain to always look for other Virginian's in this forum!

It was for the loaner not the truck.

I picked up one of these up during prime days: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QHTCWBB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works suprisingly well. I think @boogie3478 has one as well.

Be weary at Microcenter unless you know exactly what you're getting into... they're 100% commission and will talk circles around you trying to push you into things.

A little status update on the truck - 1" body lift completed, +4" adv glass all around and a semi custom 6 point with sparco r100s and harnesses.

Now time for new bumpers, different wheels and a 1 off wrap. Also time to take about 8 leaf springs out of the back.
