Helping a buddy with his 2nd Gen (2011). Keeps blowing low beam headlights. They both go out at the same time but the brights still work. Replaced them 2 times this year already. Wondering if any other 2nd Gen owners been having the same issue? No condistaion in the head lights either.

Did you replace with OEM bulbs? On a different vehicle I replaced the bulbs with the the super bright halogens (I think that’s what they were called) and they lasted less than a year. I went back to OEM bulbs after that.
Check for corrosion/oxidation at the bulb sockets as well.

What bulbs was he using? Silverstars available at most autoparts stores have a very short bulb life, if running those I wouldn’t find those results suprising.

And quit fingering the glass part of the replacement bulb.

This and as mentioned about corrosion in the sockets. Could also unhook the wire harness connection and inspect/ plug in and remove a couple times then very conservatively apply a little dielectric grease before plugging it back in. My old first gen had a pesky rear brake light that was troublesome from time to time, but don't recall my remedy. Like 2-3 bulbs in 10 years.

Sockets look good no corrosion and connections seem tight. He is using the basic Napa halogen bulbs.
Damn I enjoyed fingering the glass on the bulb lol, been very careful not to the glass. Maybe I will tell him to get some OE's or go to LED lol.
I was just curious if there was a common issue that would cause this. All good suggestions.

A little research before the last 2 bulbs I replaced, the consensus was the brighter bulbs tend to burn out quicker. Seems they had standard then 2 something or other both more lumens available. I picked the middle one and could have been silver star as that rings a bell. They've been working great for a few years now and on always I believe. So 60k miles. I think something else could be awry. Good luck, please update solution.
