Dumb question guys, as I’m trying to try out moose ditty’s mild and wild. I’m a flash kit owner and just recently bought the VF tuner update for $80 and have installed VF tuner. I got the master key from Mat and registered.

I downloaded Moose ditty’s mild and wild zip file and unzipped. What are my next steps to flash? I attempted pull it up and flash similar to flashing those 2.0 tunes, but the file format does not show up to flash.

    Any suggestions?

Make sure you are using the vf flash tool. Otherwise, process is the same.

Yep, using that. When I try to search and open mild and wild, the file type does not show up.

any suggestions? Btw, for some reason, even though I registered the product and entered the key, it still says “locked”. I did go into license area to confirm it has my name, email and master key listed, so I hit “request 5 credits” just in case.

    Any suggestions?

You unzipped it and you can see the .vft file? Otherwise I think theres a drop down for file extension in the flash tool that you can change.

changing those 2 diff gear values should auto-adjust everything else. I run 4.88’s and it seems to shift right on the money for the most part (based on this truck’s transmission attitude)

Are you saying you can upshift to 5th after you drop from 5th to 4th at high load/speed?
I would like to see settings if possible.
    Thanks

Yeah if I drop to 4th accelerating and back off the throttle to command a 5th gear shift if shifts right into fifth.

Since a lot of you guys are having this issue.
Find these tables, log the vehicle speed and the throttle angle you're at where it won't upshift.
on these tables, find this area and increase the values.

04B33 Tune pack is now available.

We would like feedback on it due to the several changes by toyota.

    thanks

I've dialed to stop dropping to 4th on steep inclines and speeds between 70-80. In some cases I've managed to keep in 5th with 99% of the engine load.
But my changes reach the limit on very steep and long inclines where you do need 4th to keep up with the traffic.
I have been playing with the pedal to force upshift -here is a good illustration. Accel went from 48 to 0 and still no upshift. Upshift happened when RPMS calmed down to 3000.

I see what you’re going thru now. I have not experienced that, but certainly I would be very frustrated if I was.

So I also think I understand why Mat recommends increasing the transmission torque to fix this problem. The ECU is waiting for engine torque to come down to hit the threshold specified by that map. By increasing the shifting torque the engine torque does not need to decrease so much.

Is there a PID we can monitor to understand what the requested torque value is? I am wondering if I am going through the inverse of this where I am getting downshifts sooner than I’d like.

The raising the torque for shifting makes sense now with your explanation. Now I’m just curious as to how much to raise it.

What are the units for vehicle speed in these maps?

Using Techstream, the only pull where I had actual WOT... the max was 234.56 g/sec (31.03 lb/min?) at 6867 rpm.

That reminds me, I haven't checked my air filter in quite a while.

In the past I used generic Engine torque pid, which was no near real numbers.
I will try Toyota's pid "real engine torque" to see if works.

I deliberately tried to reproduce your issue heading over the mountain on the way home tonight. I was able to replicate it several times. Hadnt bothered me before because in the given situation I would not want 5, but I could not get it when I tried even with 0 accelerator and speeds above my shift curve.

Thanks for bringing this up, something for me to keep in mind as I continue to refine my shifting.

Do you have any further input on this? Why would the throttle only be limited in that gear? My global is 250. Would raising it higher yet, be the simple fix?
