While I am not familiar with every states laws, generally it is for the original owner and 1 year from original purchase.

    OP, best of luck.

Probably unrelated to trans. That kinda pops up with any fault. CPS will trigger that warning.

Just have it towed to the dealer. Describe the symptoms. Let them diagnose it. THEN you can decide what needs to be done.

DON'T go into the dealer all wadded up demanding a replacement truck or a new transmission.

Assume the dealer is reputable. Let them prove otherwise. When you get the diagnosis, ask questions about how they determined the problem and what are the repair options. Do NOTHING without a written quote. Sign NOTHING until you are comfortable with the diagnosis and repair. If answers to your questions seem wonky, then get a 2nd diagnosis from another repair shop.

There is no way in HE77 the internet can diagnose the problem. The internet can only offer suggestions.

I'm sure you're not happy with the breakdown. Put your displeasure to the side. Focus on the task.

My understanding is New holland auto group is a Toyota dealership in the Lancaster county Pennsylvania area and have a good reputation. They are in the next county across the river form me. I would take the truck to them. let them know what happened and see what they do. It may not have any or much of the original warranty remaining but I would think that they offered some kind of used warranty.

Sorry for all the assholes that popped up this thread and sorry for the trouble with the transmission.

    Get it to the dealer
Get and save, in an organized fashion with dates etc., all documentation
Assuming it was just the CPS sensor, then I don't believe any permanent damage was done to the transmission
If you in fact DID have overheated Transmission fluid, then that's major and if you cant get rid of the truck, consider an extended powertrain protection on the dealer/Toyota's dime
I would definitely ask them to check the fluid condition/level as part of whatever they do

    Keep us posted thanks.

Make sure to post the experience with them in the Pennsylvania thread. Always on the lookout for a decent dealer experience!

Doesn't sound like the transmission. Take it back to the dealer, in fact call them and have them send a tow truck for it on their dime. It is probably something simple. I've had mice chew the insulation off a wire and let it short out. The car acted like it was about blow up and was throwing codes indicating the transmission was fried. Upon closer inspection they found the wire, shrink wrapped it and charged me 1/2 hour labor.

I think one very good thing to do is drain out 2 ounces of tranny oil and get it analyzed. You’ll get a report on the condition of the oil, metal count, did it run hot. Here in Calgary I take my oils into Metrotech to have them break the oil down and give me a report for $25 CAD. It wouldnt surprise me in the least if levels were low from the factory.
