I appreciate this write up but you spent all that money on a supercharger, the least you can do it buy some engine shampoo before working on it.

Will Magnuson do that on request? I believe their tune is locked.

Is there something between the two runs that is causing the difference below 2800 rpm? It looks like the Magnuson setup doesn’t surpass the OVTune performance until about 2800 rpm.

The high end gains are very nice.

Take a look at my previous post #72: Magnuson Supercharger Mega Thread for 16+ Tacoma - Unboxing, Install DIY, Dyno Video

The cause in dip is because the dyno operator had to modulate the throttle to prevent gear shift. The OVTune had gear lock so full WOT was okay, but the Magnuson tune does not have that feature.

From your butt dyno does the bottom end feel like it is at least the same power, if not more, than the OVTune?

I saw that post. So you're talking about the curves below 3k, and not the dip around 4.5k? I understand that gear lock plays an important part of a dyno run, so hopefully you're talking about the sub 3k range, and that dip around 4.5k is something that might be able to be tuned out a little.

Either way, I think I'm still on board with a Maggie SC vs. the twin turbo kit OVTune is producing. That kit looks to be producing some great results so far, but the install scares me.

Ah gotcha. Yeah even below 3k RPM for sure. That's not a true representation of power. The AT just wants to downshift immediately down low if you step on it. It's hard to capture true load down low without the gear lock feature. Hopefully that can be a thing in the future so I can go back and re-test.
I don't believe the 4.5k RPM dip is normal either. We threw away the first 2 runs because the car kept downshifting and the dyno operator had to find a sweet spot in the throttle pressure for it to no change gears. If that is a WOT dip then I'm be concerned. I will email Magnuson anyways to make sure that's not normal.

Not significant, but noticeable. Most of the power is made up top. If you're on stock tires though I'm sure it'd be significant.

I recall Matt discovering that the electronic nannies were actually applying brakes during his dyno runs... and that was what the mid rpm dip was all about. Hopefully others remember and can add detail. I'm just not up to trolling the threads tonight.

I vaguely remember that as well. I didn't think it was brakes though? I forget now haha.

There was something else, brake related I thought. I'm probably misremembering though

Thanks for posting that, it’s great to see the first “real” dyno results, amazing it took this long. Kinda disappointed though with the under 3k results, I really hope they manage to sort that out.

I trolled for a while, and couldn't find the exact post. But I'm pretty sure some of the traction control nannies were kicking in and applying some brakes. I think he got around it by disabling the nannies.

Unless the OEM upper (with the ACIS) and lower intake manifolds are both removed and replaced, correct?
