The rack holds up fine because the shitty d-ring mount bends before the rack gives. These are two of the ones I destroyed. lol

There are a few people who've run 37s on both mid travel and long travel. Seems like most of the guys who were successful with it knew how to drive and not overstress anything.

I saw. Should be fun to drive home with a lot of power under the hood.

Primarily, complete 05+ F250/350 Super Duty axles. A GM 14bolt and a Ford HP Kingpin wouldn't be a bad option as well, but damn those Kingpins are expensive to buy and build compared to the Super Duty axles. I haven't been on Facebook in ages, so I'll take a look there.

That's reassuring to hear. Still curious on how the steering is in general with 37s+. Like how much more effort you have to put into it than normal.

All the buy/sell has shifted from Craigslist and forums to Facebook. Complete sets of super duty axles can be had from the Midwest for 800-1000 ish. Out west you pay just a little more depending on location.

Switching to a hydro steering ram is the only real way to steer 37’s+ on IFS. Standard rack and pinions aren’t up to the abuse of crawling and big tires long term. Sure, you can kind of make them work but you end up changing racks regularly and still have weak steering power even compared to a hydro assist setup on a SA.

With enough motivation, anything can be accomplish. Lol. IDK about running 37+ tires on hp7.5 diff, many unforeseen things goes wrong with 35 already. Plus, LBJ will probably give away faster.

Yeah, I've seen complete axle sets in the Midwest for 500 plus shipping. Might go that route eventually if nothing pops up here locally.

Agreed. That's the biggest hurdle the second gen guys have had to overcome with 35/37s and the few daring enough to fit 40s.

Yep, eBay has them pop of from time to time in my recommendations.

It goes without saying that you need an ARB air locker up front. The stock spider gears are far to weak to handle 37s. A while back I was hoping that Brian at Front Range was going to launch his 2.5+ LT kit that he made for his 3rd gen t4r. He also put a custom 8" spidertrax diff up front so he could run digs.

In reality, I'm still far more motivated to just go to tons and 40s. I love the idea of new suspension because I just don't care for my Icon stuff anymore. I'm going to buy new tires before next summer wheeling season. Knowing me, I'll probably stick with 33s because I can't be asked to tub the firewall. If I do end up putting 35s on my truck, I'd probably just throw an ARB up front and call it done until I can SAS.

Well, I guess it's time that I actually update this thread since I finally did something to the old girl outside of driver her to work and back.

I decided to get the Taco a new muffler as a early Christmas gift. Also that's my way to justify spending money on the truck right now.

    In with the New

Also video since I know people want exhaust videos :notsure:

So far, it's a nice change. Not too much drone, but I can always sound deadened my truck later if I find it to be annoying. Haven't drive the truck much outside of my 10 minute commute to work, so I guess I'll just wait to really give an opinion on it.

You know what sounds better than a new exhaust?

    Supercharger whine.
(Not to be confused with diff pinion gears getting stripped off)

Alrighty, the old girl got some much needed TLC this weekend. Still have a list of stuff to do, but at least it's a start.

Made this little mount for my Scangauge 2. Mainly wanted it for transmission temps, so I get around to messing with the displayed gauges later.

Decided to do the deck plate mod while I had the truck in the garage. Kinda pointless with the snorkel, but I might get rid of the snorkel next year, so it might see some use eventually.

Replaced my old dry rotting and cracking intake tube with an Airaid Modular Intake Tube. So far I like it, but only time will tell. Definitely a much bigger fan of the less clutter in the engine bay.

Still lots more work to do. No real rush which is nice for once. Just need to plan around my work schedule to get things done. Hopefully in the next few weeks she won't be so much of pile. Roof and hood are starting to fade really bad so I'm probably going to end up reclear coating the rood and hood during the Summer, but hopefully a good wax and polish can save the paint until then.
