SAIS should fall under emissions equipment, which falls under federal emissions warranty 8rs or 80k miles.

Mine is just past I'm at 83K For which I understand seems to be right at the point of failure.
I don't know if any changes were made to any replacement parts such as the diverter valve.
As far as I know it is the Same as what was original. Which means maybe 80K more miles
and it might fail again. Crap shoot. I'm not 100% sure mine was ALL due to the gas cap.
I took the after market cap off and reinstalled the OEM one and it has been fine.
But I feel that the real deal is a ticking time bomb. Which is the diverter valve failure.
The parts run about $500. And an hour and a halves work.

I wonder if it didn't suck the little foam filter into the pump, if it did and it didn't damage the pump maybe you could just blow everything out good with air and see if it fixes it. There is a thread on the foam filter damaging the system here and a video on a mod to fix it here.

    Be careful tightening the screws.
The housing can crack fairly easily.

Mine already has the filter mod where the intake filter foam is replaced with an external
round filter 1" in diameter that looks kind of like a small K&N .

When I took the top off to replace the foam filter it looked brand new.
    not degraded at all.
