2017 Tacoma 15,000 miles is in the shop for a creak on the front end. The dealership has replaced struts, retorqued all mounts (trans, body, etc...) now in for a third time they found a seized bushing in the lower control arm. They were unable to get the bushing out as sent it to a machine shop. Not being so Confident in the shops ability and with minimal knowledge of my own is there anything to watch out for or requests to be made? Should they replace both sides? Examine the lower control arm for damage after? Ask for pics of progress? Just for the lower control arm they have had my truck 4 days. This is all warranty work so I’m sure that limits my demands. Thanks for any help and insight.

Creak in the front end? They're throwing a lot of parts at it for a noise. What kind of creak is it?

Yeah, they have told me it’s everything under the sun at this point. Only happens when going slow out or in driveways, speed bumps or just crappy roads. It’s more of a long drawn out creak or sometimes an abrupt tiny knock. Hope that’s helps.

Noise complaints are always very difficult to track down unless it’s something obvious. Most of the time, if the noise is minor, it’s better to just wait for it to develop. It’s under warranty and there’s history of the complaint in the vehicles record so you should be good.

Ok just want to make sure there isn’t something obvious I’m over looking like replacing both sides at the same
    Time.

Front body mounts and radiator supports are known to squeak under compression on these trucks.

The dealer did say it was rusted in place. Kinda weird for a garage kept truck but maybe not.

We shall see. I’ll be sure to let you all know the verdict. I’m assuming since they retorqued the cab mounts and found the control arm bushing stuck and rusted out that might be it. I’m just worried about their workmanship. They never checked the ailment after the new struts and it was terrible when I got it back.

Limits? Nah as the warranty is a performance contract between you and Toyota...the dealer is not a party to that contract merely the authorized agent to perform the work on Toyota’s behalf. The dealer’s obligation is to put forth their best skill and effort in furthering your interests by providing workers skilled in the tasks assigned to them. I would suggest disconnecting the front sway bar end links and take the vehicle for a ride problem should go away as all it takes is a few millimeters of play for that shitty joint to make that cracking sound and it’s easily mistaken for being good.
