Lol. Good guess. Crows. Stinky black crows, hundreds . Spooky , they come into the city to roost at night this time of the year , they say cause of the rivers, food ..... shit everywhere. Years back they roosted at Pitt campus and they used recordings of coyotes to spook them to keep them away. So they just moved to other places around Oakland.

Looking for a little advice here. I attempted to remove my bedrack and tent yesterday. The bedrack is tied into the front bed bolts. Those aren't budging. Truck is outside, so hopefully the rain stops and I can soak for a couple days with PB. I don't think that's going to do it. I'm afraid to bump the impact to the 3 and strip the torx out. Any tips, tricks for those who have had issues? To top it off I came out of the garage after working on the quad to see my control module for my winch smoking. Can't win for losing it seems. Another expensive lesson learned. FUCK...rant over.

I stripped out mine with the impact....had to have nuts welded to them to get them out.

EDIT: Weren't you at GMF for this?

Hi Mike, Had a similar problem years ago. Heat is the answer. Use a propane, (not mapp), or a small butane torch, and slowly heat them for 20 to 30 minutes from the top. Then bang with an impact on low which will also heat the bolt. Patience is love.....

    Edit:
As an afterthought, park it in a warm garage overnight.

Take a propane or mapp gas torch to the head of the bolt slowly heating it up. Low to mid setting on impact will brake it free. If by chance you strip the torch head use a cutoff wheel to tturn the head of the bolt to a regular bolt that you can use a socket on, I've done this before.

As for the winch. I always disconnect the circuit breaker from the battery when it's not in use (I had an older model badlands winch kick on and pull the cable in so far it bent my bumper slightly) I had the wireless controller box mounted not realizing that an rf signal from something else can activate it. Came back to work to see the bumper bent alittle and the slack out of the cable. Found out the garage door opener for next doors warehouse uses the same frequency. I have a on/off switch I mounted inline to the 12k lb Badlands APEX winch so I don't need to worry about it drawing the battery on my 7'x18' car hauler.

I still have that bulkhead reinforcement panel for your cap too.

Spray the bolts from below where the welded nut is on the frame for a few days, then heat with mapp gas as mentioned. I’d recommend heating from below as that’s where they seize, not from the bed. Hit it with impact on high setting. Worst case you strip out the torx you weld a grade 8 nut on there and have at it. Before loosening I’d recommend impacting them a little tighter first a hair, then reverse the impact to try and loosen.

We have a pair around here - one showed up at the bird feeder I put out front in the winter yesterday. We also have a smaller Tufted Wood Pecker that I see every day - never saw one of those until this year.
