Valentine One. It has, without question, saved me thousands of dollars. That being said, the effectiveness of a radar detector is dependent on your understanding of the technology and the equipment local officers use in your area. Where I am it's very simple.

X and K band is never a cop. Those signs that display your speed on the side of the road are K band but you'll never get a ticket from one of those.
KA band is always a cop.
Laser is a cop and your going to get a ticket. Nothing you can do. Laser is extraordinarily rare though.

As for it always beeping and becoming annoying you can adjust it to your liking. Volume is always adjustable and you can reflash the firmware to ignore X and K band if you wish.

I have an Escort Passport 8500 - old model but had it for 15yr and it has saved me from so many tickets I cannot count!
    But that is in my BMW E36 328is & now 128 - -

I didn't think I would want to use it in the Taco but after almost getting a ticket my 1st time out 60 in a 55 - lame - i quit and have been swapping it back and forth as of late - the other day it seemed like it was going to die - gonna find out this AM - but I won't drive without it.
If broke, i will replace it ASAP with the Escort 9500 [out of stock at Escort ATM] or the ESCORT 360 - we will see how much I want to throw at this, but I can't argue the savings over time..
Even lame speeding tickets are expensive and I don't want to deal with getting stopped if I don't have to.

My SO has a Valentine One and had an Escort Passport 8500 - he liked the Valentine One but for me it was overkill - I know how the 8500 alerts and how to respond, that 'training' is key, I didn't need the rest.

IF mine is dead I will replace it

Doggman is correct about X and K - again learn the patterns and you will be all good -
While Ka is USUALLY a cop, the past few years, Acura/Honda lane change will trip Ka too at times and a few others, depending on how they are optioned..
I have had laser go off all of 2x ever and it was nothing -

I did almost get VASCAR/ed the other day though - that was a new one and would have been bad but they took the dude in the right lane instead of me - you can't do jack about a cop/binoculars/two points X distance apart that if you pass them both in Y unit time = too fast!

    Good luck n stay safe!
