Has anyone had any luck with a 5gallon bucket dust separator collection with their shop vac?

Did you DIY it or buy the lid setup with molded hose ports?

I designed the parts for the bucket. I put them up on Thingverse for free. I just used a small shop vac.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I have the Oneida system. Well worth the investment. I'm amazed how the shop vac still looks brand new internally.

Hi - Newish taco owner, but have been watching the forums since I drove it off the lot in 2019.

My girlfriend and I do a bit of woodworking, though with a move this summer we haven't been able to really tackle any woodworking. We plan to build a shop though; ouch are lumber prices through the roof around here.

We did work out of what I called a 3/4 car garage in a townhouse/air condo before we moved. All hand power tools and hard tools. No room for floor standing tools. Could barely fit a Honda civic in there, but then got taken over by projects. We ended up getting a good deal on a bunch (30+) of cedar slabs from a retired chainsaw jocky. They range from 18 inches to about 5 feet. Plan to make tables out of them. Had to build a router sled big enough to handle them to work on flattening them with a planer bit. No pics of the sled but its 5 feet x 6 feet.

When my girlfriend moved in she had a partially finished cedar cookie table in the works that we finished up together. About 3.5 feet in diameter. Old fruit wood tree crown from her grandparents place as the legs. Inlaid with various crystals and agates in epoxy. Poured epoxy finish.

ive been making things with metal, clay and wood for decades at this point. wood has most of my attention of late though. I bought a big chainsaw and mill last fall and have been collecting lumber from downed trees since. Ive had opportunity to make several things out of it in the past year.
Yakasugi has really caught my attention in the past several months. If you're not familiar with it, its worth a google. This bowl is made from a spruce I had taken down in my yard.

This is a lazy Susan I made as a gift. Maple that went down in a storm a couple towns over.

    Simple beam. Also spruce.

Red oak shelves from a downed tree near my house in the woods.

Bench is the same red oak and spruce above.

White oak lazy Susans from a dead tree I took down in the woods with spalted maple keys.

Thats all ill include for now. I have way more ambition and ideas than I have space or time. someday!!

id suggest just taking the bark off, sanding the exterior and oiling the hell out of it with some linseed. but im not into shiny. to each his own.
