I was getting 7-8 mpg as well with the taco. I’ve only pulled the trailer once with the new truck and that was here in the hill country. Averaged 15-16 mpg. The twin turbos make it seem like I had no trailer back there hardly at all. I’m rated to tow 12,900 lbs. My truck has a 36 gallon tank. I’m assuming yours must be close to that as well. All those things along with much more room in the cab make this truck so enjoyable to drive.

Yeah if I didn’t look in the mirror I would know the trailer was there. Mine has a 31 gal tank on it. Saw where they make a 60 gal replacement. I’d like that till I had to fill it up. Lol

The extra room is nice. Really nice getting to your destination and not being tired from the trip too. Amazing how much towing with a smaller vehicle wears you down. Mine is rated at 15,200 I believe it was. Mainly because with the 3/4 tons they have to limit you at 10,000 GVW to meet the regs. I got to reading and the only difference between the 3/4 ton and the 1 ton was one leaf spring extra. Same frame, same engine, same transmission and a piece of paper saying you can tow 22,000 lbs.

The rating for different trailers were different though. I believe it said a gooseneck could go up to 25,000 lbs. IDK This crap is all kinds of confusing. Lol

A buddy of mine switched from the 5.0 f150 to the ecoboost twin like that and loves it. Nice truck!

Oh man that is crazy. Can’t believe one leaf spring makes all the difference.

I don’t even want to think about filling up a 60 gallon tank. 36 gallons is painful enough.

I totally agree about how much of a difference it makes towing with the bigger truck vs the Tacoma. The smaller truck is constant work and worry about things like trans temp and etc. You definitely can’t get over 50-55 mph and feel in control.

All that being said, I do miss my Tacoma a little. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one to build out for off road purposes.

Actually towing with the taco didn’t really bother me. I’d run between 60-65 with it all the way. I think I made a good decision with the WDH setup when I got the camper. Thing has never wanted to sway or moved eradically even with a semi coming by me. It may move over a little as a whole but trailer would stay right in line surprisingly well.

Ive been really impressed with the factory trailer brake controller. I didn’t think they work work as good as they do. I believe the exhaust brake is doing a lot of the work though. It’s crazy how fast that thing will stop compared to the taco. Haha

TYVM. The twin turbos are just fun to drive! Even better in sport mode. I drive the 5.0 first then I drove the ecoboost and I never looked back. I know the numbers aren’t too different on paper but it’s noticeable when driving.

That interior looks so much nicer than the F450’s we have at work. Ours have the tiny screen in the middle of the dash and it just looks empty and like they left half the dash somewhere.

I really like the white too! I almost wish I had gotten a white one. They were hard to find as is though when I was looking. Pretty much had to pick the color you found. I missed getting 3 trucks in one day because they sold immediately upon listing them online. Every one of them said they listed them and they were gone within an hour of listing.

I have the WDH but I’m thinking I need to get it dialed in a little better. I got it all set up for the taco but now I need to readjust for the new truck. I was using a brake controller on the taco but it’s nice having the factory built in now. Works great and easy to tweak. I can even store different trailers and settings for each trailer in the computer. I don’t have an exhaust brake but I do do have tow mode which uses the 10spd trans differently to help slow you down. I’ve used that and definitely like it. One thing I haven’t messed with is the Pro trailer back up assist. I really don’t need it since I can back up a trailer fairly well but I’d like to at least set it up and try it out for fun.
